Amy, my buddy goes to school in Missoula. He spot and stalked a dandy of a cinnamon black around your area with the bow last week!

Nice bear Kota!

Looks like my Idaho spring bear plans are cancelled as my Idaho connection has moved away :(. I'll still be going after them here in Ca this year though.

Here's a few pics from this weekend. Didn't see any bears, but the snowpack/snowmelt was better than I expected. Lost visibility Sat afternoon when the rain hit and woke up Sun to some fresh snow. Heading to another area this weekend. Gotta say, being a weekend warrior sucks, I want to be out there now!!

first bear hunt

This is the first year that I have actually devoted time and efforts to hunting bear here in washington state(west side). I was lucky enough to get drawn for spring bear for the kapowsin tree farm, but don't know the area very well and don't know a whole lot about bear hunting. Anybody have any tips... Thanks for the help.

Found a beautiful cinnamon color bear at the head of this draw, but could only get to 190 before he caught my wind.

I love a nice comfy spot to post up & glass. Didn't find any more bears, but found lots of deer which was part of the reason I went anyway.

Overall I had a great trip, just fun to get out in the mountains and put on some miles after being cooped up a couple months!

Congrats Kotaman way nice bear!!!!

MntBoy keep the pics coming.

This is the first year in atleast 6-7 years I won't even be trying to chase bears at all until 3rd week of May. Spent my normal spring grizz via snowmobile hunt time in Southern Utah which was worth it for that experience alone. Just way cool country.

However here in a couple weeks I'll be heading out with Becca and my brother and sister in-law my 7 year old niece, 6 year old nephew, and 4 year old niece out for 5 days of black bear hunting. I'm tagged our in this area from last fall so only can have Becca take one, and my bro and sis-inlaw if they are so inclined. Regardless should be a good time and hope to help my nieces and nephew spot of bears and catch a few fish. Should be a good time. After that it'll be backpacking in for grizzlies for a week trying to get Becca her first grizz.

What part of the state you heading to luke?

Bears in AK have been super slow this year. Not many bears have hit the dirt (or snow) yet but hopefully that changes. i got on a good one twice last week at 400 yards and at 460yards. Both times he wouldn't leave the thick heavy brush for a shot. Ive just been doing night hunts after work and the one I'm chasing lives on a hill 500 yards from the road which makes access quick and easy :)

He's the biggest non-salmon fed bear I've ever seen, should go around 7ft so I'm itchy to get em.

I am still snowed out here in Wyoming. I have been trying to put out my bait for the last couple weeks but no such luck. This weekend was promising until the towers of snow made it impassable. Hopefully going to get it in this week though.

That's one way to get it done. Nice shot.

I prefer to get close in it's face, and smell it's stink. It gets the juices flowing.

Loving the updates 'ceby7' and 'MtnBoy'...best of luck during the rest of the spring season. Looks like warmer temps are on the forecast 4-5 days out. Hoping some more snow comes off before I head out in 10 days.
