I've had the same problem with my T3 in .270. I chalked it up to just being me. I'm not a very good shot. The first box of ammo I put through it was the cheapest I could find, 150 gr Fedral Power shok's. My first group was 1.5 MOA. It just got worse from there. I noticed after about 9 well spaced out rounds, the I was getting barrel contact with the stock. I was surprised how hot it had gotten. I cleaned it and let it cool. The groups didn't get any better. I know I'm not that good of a shot but dang, expected a little better. I jumped behind a .223 between groups and shot .75 MOA. I have no idea where to go from here other then try some different ammo and work technique a little bit.

My t3 shoots like caca until I get close to max pressure loads. It's loving ssts pushed hard. I tried loading my 300wsm to 30-06 velocities to lessen the recoil and it shot horrible like over 1 1/2 groups. Took the same powder and bullet to max and its .75 and under

No, I bought it used Justin. Not sure how many rounds were through it. Not very many as far as I can tell.

This group was with some of the new 168 grain Berger Classic Hunter Bullets. I have a three shot group that shoots pretty well too with 180 grain Accubonds. It was very frustrating trying to get my rifle to shoot well but as soon as that barrel broke in the groups shrank drastically.

I went with Win 760 powder at 64 grains of powder and seated them as long as I could get with my magazine limitations with the Tikka T3 lite stainless. The over all length of the cartridge is 2.885. I did try H4831sc as well with these bullets and they were shooting well but not as well as Win760. I do however use H4831sc with my 180 grain Accubonds.

The mag in my buddy's T3 7mm mag allowed for 3.350 C.O.A.L. if my memory is correct.

I'm confused. Did I miss the caliber on the gun that you are working with? I'm guessing it is a 270 of some nature based on the bullet weights, but I haven't followed any 270 bullets in the 180 category. It appears that you are talking about 2 guns at the same time..... Could you clarify for me please? Thanks.

It is a 300 wsm

That helps. Couldn't quite figure using a 140 gr. bullet in a 300, but couldn't get a 180 gr. in a 270. Stick with 165 and 180's unless you have a need for bigger ones. Personally, I shoot 180 Partitions as the performance (about 1" groups at 200) is more than adequate for my uses. I know the gun and other ammo may work better, but I'm going to have to put more than a 10X scope on the gun and I have no plans on changing at this time. The setup I use has not let me down so I don't see any need to tweek at this time. I have a NIB T3 in a 300WSM (blued & wood stock) that I should get out or sell but I haven't got either done yet. The gun doesn't owe me as it was won someplace and would only be a backup at this time. I might need to look at the 760 powder, but the 4831sc has worked well for me. My son's 270WSM in a T3 shot great out of the box with about anything that we stuffed in it. No break in needed. Nice gun.

Just got my load finalized after playing with this tikka for years. 300wsm RL 19 and 150 gr ssts. This is a 300 yard group. I pulled the second shot but 1,3,4 grouped unbelievably. I was getting ready to sell this thing before I shot this. I'm getting ready to put a viper 4-16 pst on it and start high buck. For some reason it posted sideways. The top shot is actually off to the right

I just had my 10-year-old at the range shooting his new Tikka T3 7MM – 08 for the first time. He was shooting 140 grain factory ammo free handed, off the bench at 100 yards. I will be getting a Limbsaver butt pad for him, as the gun tends to rock him pretty hard, but all in all I am very happy with his grouping. At this point the guns only had a little over a box of ammo through it with the standard cleaning between every couple rounds so I don't know if it's broke in just yet. I'll get him down there a couple more times practicing before heading out to chase caribou in a couple weeks.
