My wife and I just had our first child and unfortunately "Yeti" has to go as its just not enough space. I had wanted one of these things for so long. I bought it back in 2023 in western MT. The car spent most of its life in CA, then a few years here in MT before I purchased it. I've put 9,000 miles on it since I bought it, odometer is currently sitting at 242,000 miles. It has 16" All Terrain tires on it with plenty of life left. The cruise works and it will roll down the highway doing 70mph no problem. Heat and AC work great as well, stereo and speakers work and are original. Spare tire included and has a cover. Currently has a rack and basket on top, have not decided on if I will be keeping. The interior is good shape for the year, seats were all in good shape when bought but I went ahead and bought custom fit seat covers for it anyways. The paint is in surprisingly good shape with only some small areas of flecking. Differential engages no problem. Since purchased (because the guy I bought it from was a snake), the parts below have been replaced by my mechanic. I can provide photos of my RockAuto orders if you would like as well as the number to my mechanic:
-upper and lower rear control arms
- front right/left lower control arms
- front lower control arm bushing
- front lower ball joints
- rear lower forward differential mount
- rear upper rearward differential mount
- front and rear motor mounts
- transmission mount
- upstream O2 sensor
- front sway bar links
- power steering pump
- power steering belt
- power steering pressure hose
- power steering return hose
- rack and pinion with inner tie rods
- both front shock/strut & coil assembly
- rear shock/strut
- drive belt
- air conditioning/alternator belt
- timing belt and component kit
- timing cover seal
Now, this vehicle is almost 30 yrs old so there are some things. Even though I replaced the differential mounts a light thump can be heard on unsmooth shifts. I did some research and believe it may be the differential torque rod. The check engine light pops on and off due to the cats being drilled out (the previous owner wanted to stick it to CA emissions). Fifth gear is functional but it will pop out, a common issue for these vehicles. It has been like this the entirety of my ownership. I know you can buy the synchro kit for 5th gear and replace it fairly easy, it was just never a priority for me. There is one chip in the windshield but it has been sealed and some of the coating from the rooftop basket has come off on top of the car, which can be washed off. If you are popping the hood, you need to use the prop bar to engage the release mechanism.
I'm sad to have to part with this vehicle. It was my run around town car but I also used it for bird, deer, and antelope hunting. With the short wheel base and locking differential its like a UTV on steroids and far cheaper. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or for additional photos.
