How about Fusion 9mm 1911s? Apparently manufactured in Turkey but finished in USA by Fusion, started by a former Dan Wesson employee.

Yep. It's a thing. High-end makers such as Alchemy/Cabot do it for all of theirs.

As far as I can tell, it's something for true believers / enthusiasts ...or dilettantes. Hard to tell the difference sometimes.
