Considering building an 18” 6.5 creedmoor as a lighter weight hunting rifle. What velocities are you all getting with hand loads in 140 ELDMs and 143 ELDXs?

140’s at 2620-2650 out of my 18” creed.
130’s at 2730-2750.
May I ask is it a factory barrel? If so manufacture and load data. I am struggling to get out of the 2500’s on my 16” tikka factory. I wouldn’t know pressure signs if it bite me other than a sticky bolt.

Sure thing.
It’s a chopped factory stainless tikka barrel.
All loaded to 2.81-2.82”
43.0gr H4350 and 130TMK
43.5gr H4350 and 130 ELDM
41.5gr H4350 and 140 ELDM
41.5gr H4350 and 143 ELDM

Thank you. Are you pushing it hard to get that velocity?
Charges posted above.
I think these are generally considered top end but not max.
I personally stop well before pressure develops. I very much want reliable reloads, that feed fire and extract without difficulty. Good powder burn and reliable groups were the priority. The velocities are just where things ended up.

My tikka 6.5cm with the factory stainless barrel chopped to 16” is getting 2640-2650 consistently, with 43.5gr h4350 and 130tmk’s keeps velocity above 1800fps out to 650 yards.

143 ELD-Xs over 41.8gr H4350 at 2570
130 TMKs are at 2720 over 43gr H4350
These velocities are with an AB Raptor 8 mounted, I haven't shot this rifle unsuppressed since I got it threaded.
Very happy with this setup, just a plain Tikka with a factory barrel chopped to 18" by Kampfeld.

Factory barrel cut at 18"
Cgs hyperion
Alpha large primer
H4350
143 eldx 2505
130 eld 2605
Have not chronoed my 140 eld load

My brass gets ejector swipes without even firing, so I'm not pushing the pressure, very vanilla loads that average 1.2 moa for 10 shots

Also worth noting my chrono is a pos optical dinosaur

Not that you asked about the 147 ELDM, but my 18" chopped Tikka barrel gets 2745 fps with RL26. (It was at 2825fps with the the factory length 24.3 inch barrel.) Very capable and fun to shoot rifle.

Unless you're all stocked up on 140s and 143s, don't over look the 147.

Well I rolled 20 rounds this morning after being a moron for the past week.

16” tikka factory TBAC 7 6.5

All over 43.2 H4350
130 TMK’s 2588 2.810. I like this set up .60 MOA IMG_1790.jpeg
I almost made my goal of a single hole and dorked up on the 9th shot. 10 round group at 120 yards.

143 ELDX 2573 2.810 Shot OK 1.5
129 SST 2583 2.810 Shot OK 1.25

I would add 60-80 fps for the additional 2” on an 18” barrel.

20 inch factory suppressed
143 eldx
2.810
Lapua
40.6 h4350
2640 fps

I get slight ejector marks with a hot barrel.

Will probably drop the charge and land somewhere around 2620

Dude that is scorching for a 147. I know some people think RL26 is pixie dust, but you have to be overpressure.

My 18 inch Tikka struggles to reach 2700 with a 127 LRX and book max load of Hunter/CFE 223/RL15.

I don't know! This rifle is one of the earliest T3x superlites in 6.5cm that i bought used from Ryan Furman many years ago. He shared his recipe and I worked up to it with my RL26 and its been money ever since.

I've shot hundreds of rounds thru it with no pressure signs that my dumb ass can perceive. I'm currently on my 5th or 6th firing of this 100 pieces of Hornady brass since its never been picky....bolt lift is easy, primers look good...nothing that worries me....

But I don't disagree with you!

I was getting 2700 I think with a max charge of staball 6.5 and 140 eldms.

The recoil was horrible and 2700 is pretty slow.

Rebarreled to 22 Creed since we can hunt elk with em. Otherwise I'd have gone 6.

Now I'm getting 2970 with 88 tmks and zero recoil. Which the kids love.

Try Superformance. It's the fastest in my 20" with 147's.
Edit: or apparently RL26 holy shit.

My bubba's pissin hot loads with a friend's 18" Tikka seated to mag length with H4350 get 2655fps with 143's. My personal 18" Tikka gets 2640 with 147's and H4350.

These are really warm loads and require cleaning or pressure signs kick in. I consider this a ceiling.

I just started load dev with N550 and a 20” Tikka. Getting >2700 so far. I havent shot groups yet just a pressure ladder.
