Hello all,

Looking for some reloading insights, recently I have been forced to develop a new load for my 270 win with a 16” barrel as the powder I had been using (re22) is unobtanium and I wont pay price gouging on gunbroker.

Ive always read faster burn rate powders are better in short barrels, and I assume it to be true despite my good velocity results with re22 with 140g accubonds. I am likely looking to swap to copper (130g etips and hammer 122g) so I want to aim for higher velocity and better burn.

I have h4831sc and etips…and I needed to get through this season so I loaded some up. I have gotten good enough groups (1/2 moa) with the etips at lower to middle charge but not chronographed yet. Is it worth picking up some h4350 to get higher velocity? Either way I am loading more to try for higher velocity.

I had much better results with both 124gr hammer hunters and 133gr sledgehammers using h4350. Ran out of case capacity with 4831sc before building any speed due to the long Bullets.
Running 145eld-x now with FULL case of 4831sc and good results.
This is from a 16in tikka 270

I cannot believe someone has a 16” 270, what a world. Do you recall what velocity you were able to push the 122 hammers with h4350? Any thoughts on terminal performance?
