115 DTacs on deer

I haven't seen any issue with the thin-skinned game, axis deer being the smallest animal I have shot.

But we will have another excellent option in January.
Ryan, and s2h are costing me a fortune. First it was the 6um, rokstock, dtacs, hopefully soon a OG and now different bullets wtf haha

Haha yeah. I used to think Aron Snyder costed me a lot of money when I first got into backpack hunting. Ryan is giving ol Snyder a run for his money. Hey man you should sell your Remmy clone and that Leupold and get an Unknown tikka 6 UM

Update: New bullets will be available the first week of July.

Here is my logic behind the new DTAC 115 REBATED BOATTAIL

Having shot 6mm fast twist barrels with a good degree of success this bullet short history should be an interesting read.
In the 1980’s we shot 107 weight range 6mm bullets for Silhouette and High Power competitions. Lower recoil and good wind drift were paramount in coming to the 6mm bullet diameter.

After I developed the 6XC case around 2003 I approached Sierra about making me a 6mm bullet in the 115 grain range. They ran prototypes in 112, 115, and 120 grain configurations. I thoroughly tested these and decided on the 115 gr. In 2004 I used these at Camp Perry and the result was a Long Range National Championship aggregate with a perfect score was the result 1450x101. Enough Said……..

In 2007 Sierra had just introduced their plastic tipped bullets. I had them run a test batch of plastic tipped 117 gr weights. These didn’t pass my criteria.

We the ran another test batch of 111 gr plastic tip 6mm and they looked great in the Sierra tunnel tests. However when shot them over an Oehler 43 at 1000 yards the results indicated the plastic tips were deformed or nonexistent at the target. These didn’t pass my criteria.

FYI -- the plastic tip deformation testing information precedes the Hornady Plastic tips “Are Bad” advertising campaign by more than 7 years -- LOL.

There’s a 117 tipped dtac in the AB bullet library too.
