$500 budget, so looking at used vortex viper/razor mij if I can find one or a used Tract. Prefer the 10x50, but would take a good x42. Any one out there with experience in using these bins, would appreciate their advice. Or any other contenders.

Under $1k it’s hard to beat Maven’s C series, let alone for $500. I would be buying the C3 10x50’s without question, not even a contest.

Thanks all. Will consider the pro guide in mix. They come in at 28oz which is nice. I have gone by reviews more than anything else, keen on tract 10x42 seems to run the 10x42 conquest hd close at low light. I dont have any experience with these Tho.

Just ordered from Doug the Athlon Cronus G2 10x42. Chose free shipping to Canada, so I wonder how long that will take? Anyway, I know the Cronus is not great in low light, but the optics are so good that I couldn't resist, especially at camaralandny's price today.

I have a set of Tract 8x42 in excellent condition that I'd sell for $500. I have the box and everything from Tract.

I also owned the 10's and kept the 8's specifically because of the brightness advantage.

Let me know if interested.

50mm objective lens is superior in dark environments compared to 42mm. Astronomers prefer them for a reason

I would imagine bigger then 50mm would be even better

i will try out the c3. Tried a viper in 10x42and 10x50, the diopter was maxed out so they are a no go. The c3 has a big diopter range, and is light. The narrow fov may not be an issue, I generally hunt river valleys and clearings, under 200yds at first and last light.

Agree high magnification and big objectives are optimal, but with a weight penalty. 10x50 is good enough for me.
