First elk hunt in 4th season Colorado. I have a Model 6 Winchester pump action that needs a new scope. Any recommendations under $1000?

Do a little research. do you want fixed magnification or adjustable, what size tube, first or second focal plain, SFP is most common, is it good for for low light conditions, clarity of glass. Do this and you will be more apt to get what you need for your usage.

You can get a Zeiss V4 4-16x44 from Redhawk for under $900 out the door. It's not bombproof like the swfa, nightforce, or trijicon scopes that Form has tested, but it's more reliable than other offerings from what I understand.

Mine rode on the backpack for 20+ hunts last year and when I went to sight it in this year I didn't have to make any adjustments, still zeroed.

For my money, Zeiss make nice glass. JMO.

I got a zeiss v4 conquest 4-14x44 like mentioned above from redhawk rifles as a “used/demo” model and it came looking like brand new. I think it was $860 and that has been a very nice scope. Replaced a older leupold vx3 which I thought was good in lowlight conditions but the zeiss is noticeably better.

After reading a lot of Form’s reviews and Q&As, I went with a Trijicon Credo 2.5-15x42 for $850 new. Love the scope, might be more magnification and long range features than you need though depending on what type of shots you are able to take

Burris Fulfield 3-9 is a good scope for that gun.

or

Both the scopes come with standard plex too.

My dad has a fulfield scope and glass looks decent but I never hunted with it.

I fell out of love with high end scopes after a Leica failed on my 30-06 after about 300 shots. Feels nice to have an "ooh-ahh" scope but I've killed more stuff w cheap scopes. As long as they hold a zero, that's what matters.

Remmington 760 or 7600 are typically a 300 to 400 yard gun due to their accuracy ability. That being said, you absolutely do not need a scope that dials. A Trijicon Credo 3x9 would serve you very well.

I bet if this thread was moved to the Optics forum and the search function was used, you might find some great options to fit the bill.
