Are Vortex Strike Eagles any good?

I just got a 6 creedmoor and need to get a scope put on it. I like the 3-18ish x 44 scopes. What is everyone’s experience with the Vortex Strike Eagle rifle scopes?

Or is there something else in that $750-$1000 range that is night and day better than everything else? Looking at FFP and MOA, but pretty green with long range stuff so enlighten me.

They are OK, Vortex seems to offer more features but lower quality than comparable scopes. I would look at a Leupold for the same money, a VX5 maybe.
Pick one with the widest FOV on low magnification. Decide if you want to dial a turret for drops or use a reticle before you decide what focal plane you want. Either way works equally fine.

Used trijicon tenmile if you want reliability, repeatability, and something you won’t have to worry with

I don’t think you’re gaining much if anything in quality by going to a VX5 and your losing FFP so I’d ignore that. I have one

For 1200$ you can get the maven rs1.2. So far I’m very happy with this scope and how it’s performing. FFP as well with great glass.

In my research the new 3-18 strike eagles have gotten better reviews than their previous models and of course there is their warranty. Despite the naysayers, not every vortex product is a piece of crap. I’ve actually been trying to get my hands on one of the 3-18s to test.

The used Tenmile is another option as mentioned earlier.

Step up a little on price.

They are the official scope of your coworker that bought a Ruger Precision Rifle, goes to the DNR range 2x per year to punch paper at 200 yards and is “really into long range.”

I have two but got really good deals on them paying less than half of MSRP. The 1-8 is on a 300BO for fun times at the range. The SE is perfect for that. The other is the 3-18 on a 223Wylde AR that also is a fun gun. I have never had any issues with them but they are by no means even slightly abused. If fun shooting is your goal, the Strike Eagles are just fine. I higher magnifications have pretty crappy glass IMO.

Personally, I think you would be better off with an Athlon Helos BTR or higher option. I have used the Helos BTR Gen II 4-20x50 (FFP, MOA) on a 30-06 and 6.5CM out to 900yds and back many times without a hiccup. I also have an Athlon Ares ETR UHD 4.5-30x56 on a 6.5CM that works the same. There are some great sales on these at times, just keep an eye out.

I have a Strike Eagle 3-18. It's on a .223 blaster, it does fine for that but..
Glass is meh. It's deffinitely not "just as good" like the internet claims.
It is also a dark scope, it gets very very dark around sunset/rise. I use mine for coyotes and it's not the scope I'll grab for early or late sets.

I enjoy the turret design. I like the capped windage too.

Don't drop it too hard. 😅 I experienced a 6" POI shift after dropping in the house. To be fair my sling snagged something as I walked by so it was borderline a yeet, not just a drop.
