100 yard game of HORSE

I'm in for R this morning...

Rifle:
Tikka T3X 223 16"
77 TMK Factory Black Hills
Rokstok
Maven RS1.2
UM Lows
High Desert Bottom Metal
Nomad 30 Suppressor

Shooting Position:

2 Seated unsupported, 2 Standing off hand. All shots with pack and bino harness on. 50 Yard run between shots 2 and 3.

Live Video:

I am doing this all live from start to finish for each video, including real time walk ups to the target as to show know fudging of shots. I destroyed yesterdays target after the "O" shots yesterday morning by putting 200 rounds in it from various shooting positions (including practicing for this mornings "R" shots).

Target Result and Notes:

Felt really good this morning after some hiking and shooting on steel in the mountains. These were my last 4 shots of the morning where as the other "letters" have been the first shots of the day.

I thought my last standing shot might not be on paper, I figured I was just about out of time and really rushed that shot. Turns out I had plenty of time.

Score:

37 Points (not sure if breaking the line counts as an "X") up to @Bluumoon and the gents here.

Line cutters round up, so yes

Well there’s a sweet video, but YouTube says I can’t have the song playing in the background, lame . Picture “Fortunate Son” playing loudly and me shooting unsupported prone, gracefully running 50 yards, and svelte shooting off hand.

7/4 R -36pts

I'm in for S this morning...

Rifle:

77 TMK Factory Black Hills
Rokstok
Maven RS1.2
UM Lows
High Desert Bottom Metal
Nomad 30 Suppressor

Shooting Position:

Prone, unsupported. Screenshot from the live video on how I shot it. As much of my body on the mat as possible (mat used because desert thorns and stickers are relentless on clothing). No pack today as my pack is emptied out and being cleaned, swapping everything over to my new Teratorn pack this week.

For this shot I want to be as low as possible. Because the Rokstok has a flat bottom and isn't aggressively sloped, it allows me to press rifle into shoulder with toe of stock in the dirt (mat). Off hand as fully extended as possible and low as possible, with as much touching the ground as I can. Left hand palm and bottom fingers for rest, top finger on stock, not touching barrel, for "control".

Live Video:

I am doing this all live from start to finish for each video, including real time walk ups to the target as to show know fudging of shots. Using same target as the previous "letter" with tape over the bullet holes.

Target Result and Notes:

Same target as the "R" letter day, tape over bullet holes.

Both shots were low. Shots felt fairly stable, minimal wobble. Need to work on trying different positions for this and do it with pack and bino harness on. My pack is emptied out and being cleaned, getting ready to swap everything into my new Teratorn pack so not available today.

Wobble zone was minimal but overall rifle control was somewhat poor. You can see the rifle "rock" during reload and it slightly came off target.

This is a position I have not practiced, I could see where it might come into play hunting high country and figured it was worth adding. Plus basic rifleman skills.. Right?

I always have at least "something" for a quick front rest while prone... Wadded up grass/vegetation, rocks, sticks, make a pile of dirt lol. It's def good to practice with no rests of any kind and is fun to improvise. I'm certain there are FAR better ways to do it than I did this morning.

I went ahead and wrapped up E just now after work.

Went well. The push ups would have been a lot whole lot quicker/easier last summer when I was in September moose hunt shape and working out as much as shooting guns. This year has been much less working out and more shooting. 108 degrees doesn’t help.

I’ll edit this post later with the live video and the live target walk up. Heading back into the mountains now for some high wind practice.

I did prone unsupported just like this morning and shots felt really good despite the heart rate up and faster breathing.

I did have about a 90% of full value 8-12 MPH wind so I held 0.2 right even with the wobble zone.

Same target as this morning with this mornings bullet holes taped over…

And either a 9 or a 10. I’ll let y’all make the call. To my eye it’s favoring the 9 side of the line. @Bluumoon

Here is the live video, and live target walk up.

Thanks for the challenge @Bluumoon It made for some fun mornings and evenings practicing.

I'll be following the thread to see how folks do and really curious to see how/what positions folks will use.
