100 yard game of HORSE

Also I assume condition 3 is acceptable for this? This is how my rifle “rides” or is carried when hunting…

Empty chamber, bolt closed, safety on, full magazine inserted into rifle.
This is how I roll. Far be it from me to tell someone else what to do, but I would suggest this as the standard starting condition as moving/calisthenics should be expected.

I'm in for H this morning...

Rifle:
Tikka T3X 223 16"
77 TMK Factory Black Hills
Rokstok
Maven RS1.2
UM Lows
High Desert Bottom Metal
Nomad 30 Suppressor

Printer ran out of ink last night sorry and it's July 2nd today not the 1st.

First 3 shots of the day today for me. First shot felt fantastic, Maven dot right on the X, but I had an issue... I was trying to hurry getting target setup this morning before the blazing sun popped over the mountain for this, plus trying to get the video junk all setup blah...

I forgot to put my ear plugs in . I wouldn't say it was "disorienting" but it was definitely a distraction/frustration for the next two shots that both landed in the 9.

This position is my "go to" for most backpacking hunts as I tend to hunt in very steep terrain often with high vegetation. This doesn't allow for prone opportunities often, although I will always try to setup for prone when feasible.

This position is well practiced for me and I think I could have done a bit better overall, in the past, with 30 second, 45 second, and 60 second drills (with somebody else running the timer) this is around a 1.75-2.25 MOA 100 yard drill for me and easily my "best" shooting position outside of prone.

Looking forward to being humbled by the next few letters!

Score:

Not sure on how to score... Shot one "X" and shot two "9's" I believe. Group is 3 1/8" furthest spread center to center of holes.

28 and 1x . I think w the addition of more scenarios we can drop the measuring and just use the tie breaker if needed.

Thanks. Are we good to move onto the next letters at will, or do we wait until next week?

Edit: My plan would be, if allowed, to have “O” be my first 4 shots of the day on Friday morning.

At your leisure. All in one day, or stretch them out. Figured some guys will want to practice positions before shooting the game, nothing wrong with that either.

I'm in for O this morning...

Rifle:
Tikka T3X 223 16"
77 TMK Factory Black Hills
Rokstok
Maven RS1.2
UM Lows
High Desert Bottom Metal
Nomad 30 Suppressor

Shooting Position:

Standing using "Olympic Style" stance with elbow tucked into belly (hence why I'm so slow between shots).

My wobble zone is easily half of grabbing with "traditional" fore-end grip however, with an almost 9 lb scoped rifle is is much slower to reload and slower between shots. There is also much more target "noise/wobble" during the reloading process (target nearly disappears from sight picture on 6X with Maven).

I need to work on modifying my overall offhand shooting, I'm just resisting because it's muscle memory and I'm fairly competent in killing this way.

Target Result and Notes:

Despite feeling a bit more "wobbly" than normal for this position for me this morning (I was grumpy and tired), the shots all did feel very good during trigger control/press. I did do a "live walk up" to the target in the video after shooting since it's a gentleman's game.

Score:
I believe this is a 38? Not sure if the white 8's count for score or not? I'll go re-read the scoring rules now.

Nice shooting. 8s count. So do 7s (outside of 8s unless otherwise noted)

I don't want to derail this thread, just pose a question to you guys specifically as another practice challenge.

Also in the spirit of CBC follow up, how 'bout a MER 10rnd group(s) challenge?

#1
10 shots at your chosen MER in same position you shot for CBC, untimed.

#2
same as above but start with pack on, gun in hand in condition 3, 90 seconds? 2 minutes?
Allowing more time to make good, ethical type shots but still have a time constraint to operate within.
