Utilize NRA B-8 target at 100 yards for all scenarios

One scenario per letter of HORSE to be set by high scorer for the previous month, so 5 scenarios per month. It'll be more like reverse HORSE, if you win for the month you get a letter, keep track of your letters at top of each months post. I will commit to buying first person to spell HORSE (win five months) a T-shirt ( in a size of their choosing, a design of my choosing) to commemorate their prowess. Send me a direct message if you win.

Starting fresh on the 1st and ending on the 20th of each month. Self scoring. 20th day to end of month is for tie breakers and posting the scenarios for the next month, in the event only one person posts tie breaker (by midnight mountain time on last day of the month) they win for the month. If winner does not post new scenarios by midnight on the 1st of the month the first person to post 5 new scenarios sets the game for the month.

Only make one post per month with scores and pictures of your targets/videos, shoot scenarios at your leisure, edit your single monthly post to update if you don't shoot all at once. You may shoot as much as you want and practice the positions needed, but only get 1 go at each scenario. You must shoot all 5 scenarios for pts to count.

Scenarios x 5
For each letter of HORSE identify the following
1-Must set a time constraint- you personally start timer and shoot before it goes off.
2-Call your rules for the shot- starting position/shooting position/movements/etc
3-Number of shots, max 4 per scenario x 5 scenarios = max 20 shots per month

Scoring
X ring is worth 10 plus an X
10 ring is 10
9 is nine points
8 is 8 points
7 is anything outside of 8 ring, but on paper
If you cut the line you get the higher point
example -78pts and 4x is > 78pts and 1x

In the event of a tie, shooters will shoot 4 off hand shots in under 40 seconds, higher score wins, if same score furthest impact from X loses.

H: 20 pts

Starting from Condition 3 I dropped my pack and took 2 shots off the top of it with my butt on the ground but forgot to pull my leg up for the stock to rest on so I had 2 shots with my off hand trying to fix that and then I threw my off hand up on the pack for the third shot. I'm not sure which shot was the 7.

Red stuff is a pistol target. 2 10's and a miss (the hit on the 7).

IMG_3316.jpegO: 39 3x's I shot from the front porch at 109 yards. M4 stance. Slow is fast. Wobble Wobble.

R: 30 Points.

I'm curious how others will choose their positions. I shot all 4 from standing unsupported at the bottom of my stairs. I used around 36 seconds on "O" so I knew I wasn't going to be able to start seated and then make it down 9 steps and do the running and the steps again in 60 seconds. I shot from the bottom of the stairs which is still over 100...the top is 109. I shot all 4 standing unsupported because our 4H Food Plot project is waist high ragweed.IMG_3454.jpeg

S: 18 points

I dumped the first shot and called it on white to the right but was surprised when I got the the target. Stuff works out sometimes.IMG_3455.jpegIMG_3456.jpeg

E: 26 points

I did the pushups on my knuckles, jus sayin'. I went to prone unsupported because I wanted to try it again. I wonder if I should have gone to seated unsupported. The 4 shot cycles really exaggerated how hard it is to rack the bolt and stay in the gun without the off hand on the butt of the stock.

Might be light on participation through the fall but I'll participate as much as possible. Love the idea.

Monthly seems like the best timeframe, though only one challenge per month seems a little less engaging...maybe it could be a monthly thread with 5 challenges each month. That way you could hit all 5 in a range session.

Designate them each as a letter of HORSE. Best score on each challenge picks the criteria for that letter's challenge the next month?

Some sort of tiebreaker setup is probably needed. Smallest group?

I put a tape measure in my bino harness but when I got out there I forgot what it was for. Must be the heat.

Gotta be inside the 9 ring to count though.

I’ll give it a shot in another week. Coming off my second knee surgery in the last 6 weeks. Takes 30 seconds just to get into the position. Swelling should be down enough by then.
Shot standing unsupported this weekend with a 22 at 100 yards. Hit the 10” steel 5 out of 10 shots. Better than I expected. Need instruction on how to execute the shot correctly.

Love the 5 scenario/Letter per month idea. Won’t let me edit original post for some reason. I’ll come up with 4 more scenarios for this month.

I'm new to all competitive shooting, so this is a legitimate question. So if we do have one outside the 9 ring, we just don't get to post results on that challenge, or do we shoot again until we have something we can post?

He was calling me out for not following his instructions.

I scored myself a 27 on the target but my actual score is 20. My 7 doesn't count.

You shoot once. If you hit all 8's it would be a zero but you would still post it, and get an H because someone is already on the board in this scenario we are currently shooting.

You currently need a 28 with a smaller group to beat Bluumoon or shoot a 29 or 30 and raise the bar for the next shooters.

Would your score not be 28? Maybe I’m confused on the scoring system

I was spotting you 1. Corrected, it’s 28. I didn’t get any in x ring , but if I did it would be 28 and 1x, 2 in would be 28 and 2x

Yeah I’m in for challenges. I’ll be out 5 or 6 mornings per week and occasional evenings. So weekly challenge is good for me.

I’ll see if I can get my printer to work for the target for tomorrow am. Also, I usually use my phone as my timer so if I need to use it to video as well, I’ll need to dig out a timer.

Speaking of which, any of y’all have a GPS watch recommendation that isn’t a total pain in the dick to wear and shoot?

Also I assume condition 3 is acceptable for this? This is how my rifle “rides” or is carried when hunting…

Empty chamber, bolt closed, safety on, full magazine inserted into rifle.

Ahhh... I didn't see that you included the 7 in your score. I saw your 2 10's and a miss comment, but missed the 27 on the target. I'm slow, but I'm getting there
