Many have recommended the 140gr ELD-M. I can find the 147gr factory loaded Hornady ammo locally for the same price I can find it essentially anywhere online after shipping costs. Does the 147gr performance match that of the 140gr on game? Does the 6.5 creed have enough velocity for that weight...
Most of my shots would be 300yds or closer. Realistically, within 200yds in the big woods of northern MN. Do the copper bullets offer enough expansion out of a low velocity cartridge such as the 6.5 creedmoor to reliably expand and cause enough damage at these distances? Also, is the case better...
Thanks for all of the replies! Does anyone have opinions on the 130gr TSX Federals? The more research I’m doing the more im intrigued by the monolithic bullets, and have found that loading for roughly the price of the 129gr Interlocks. My only concern is, would the 130gr tsx have enough steam to...
Hi all,
Looking for some opinions on some different 6.5 CM loadings. At the local store they have the Hornady American Whitetail 129gr Interlock, and Federal Power Shok 140gr Soft Point. Out of those two, which do you prefer? I noticed the Federal loading has a lacquer sealant around the...
Does this apply to a standard X-bolt action? I have an original speed .300 win that is in need of a rail and im wondering if I need a long or magnum length? Apparently, the .300win in the original xbolt is a long action and the magnum length is for .300 prc, .300 rum, and .375 h&h from what I...
Thanks for the help! I will most likely end up going with Mountain Tech Rail / Rings for the .300win Xbolt. Any input on the Talley 1-piece ultra lights or other reasonable price 1-piece mounts for a 6.5CM R700?
Which rings in specific were you able to bend? I was contemplating using their backcountry rings on this build, and their 1-piece backcountry’s rather than Talley Ultralight’s on a different build due to the fact that they looked more robust than the Talley’s.
Would anyone say the Credo, Credo HX, or Accupoint lines compare well to the SHV? I am starting to feel like I would be better off with an optic with a parallax adjustment being the image the 3-10 SHV seems to “blur” out to my eyes over 250ish yards.
I am seriously contemplating the
Night...
what is everyone’s opinion on which scope would fill the role of an all around hunting scope better? I recently purchased a Nightforce SHV 3-10x42 with an illuminated duplex reticle and fixed parallax. I am planning on putting this scope on a Browning X-bolt Speed in .300win and using it as my...
