I run the 215 berger in the rum and have found .015 to .020 ol has been the sweet spot for me yielding a coal about 3.9”. As stated above they won’t fit in the stock mag when loaded long and I have never tried to run them short so I can’t help with that. For powder I like vv n570 and also had...
You’re a lot closer to PA and they have some big elk. I can definitely appreciate going west for the experience though.

Leupold fx 450bm. The turret dials good to 200 yards furthest I’ve shot it with Hornady back/custom ammo so I was willing to take a shot to 250 yards if the wind was very light.

Mine have the cfe-9 and I wouldn’t own one that I don’t put one in. It gives me options to seat the bullet close to the lands and still repeat. I don’t see it getting 100 fps the case will pressure out before it’s full with Retumbo or N570 in ADG or R-P brass. To get 100 fps more it would need...
The 190 vldh does good on elk and whitetail with good chest shots never seen one hit heavy bone or muscle so not sure how it would perform there.

I have Crispi guides 200gr and wild rock 400gr. I like them for MT mountains and OH flat ground hunting but if it’s cold I will have my arctic shields so 30ish degrees and colder for stationary hunting/glassing. After using both I really don’t see a need for an insulation value this close...
Not sure where your located but our local Amish tack shops is where the good prices are on boots. My guide’s were 385$ and I like them so much I bought the wild rocks on sale at Midway today for sub 300$.

A few of us using Crispi guides or Kenetrek mt ex use articshields in MT,PA , and OH. I haven’t got cold feet yet with my guides and articshields. I have used rubber and leather 1000g boots but my feet get cold after a few hours. I think heated socks are the way to go if you don’t want an over...
R-p brass, VV N570 80.5 gr, Fed215 gmm, Berger 215, .020 ol shot best but loaded just long enough to mag feed until I put Wyatt ex mag box in, avg 3000 fps on 80* day. This load shoots very good to 1k in my ridgeline!

I have seen many deer killed with a 450bm using Hornady black or custom ( same ammo different box) and a lot of them by youth hunters. A good shot they don’t go far and can be tracked w a blood trail but a marginal shot can be tough to track. The 350 does good too but a good shot seems to have a...
I use Con Yeager for jerky, bulk and linked sausage in hot or sweet Italian, and maple blueberry flavor for breakfast sausage. Their snack sticks come out good too. I like hi mountain cracked pepper n garlic or jalapeño summer sausage but I add chopped bell peppers and red onion.

I think you would get the most use/practice with the g40. Three or four of the guys I hunt with out west have them and carry in a thigh holster. We chose the g40 because the barrel is long enough to allow for whitetail hunting in Ohio if we want. My daughter will shoot it but like said already...
I have the Stocky’s carbon ultra light VG2 on my Ridgeline. The stock weighs 27.5oz, the rifle and stock were 6# 9oz, the rifle with the nightforce is 9# 1oz. I did change the radial brake to the Ti slayer brake and it is very comfortable to shoot as for accuracy sub moa is no problem.

The banish 46 in the 10” configuration doesn’t reduce recoil like a break at least on my 450bm and 338 Terminator. I don’t need ear protection when firing either. I only tried it on the Terminator to see how it performed and still only run it with the brake. My purpose for it was just shooting...
I have 3-9x40 vx- freedom’s and vx-2’s on my 45-70 and three 450bm’s never had to adjust zero and that’s at least 5 years of hunting on them. I know many guys hunting with leupold’s on their strait walls with no scope issues.

I’ve shot my 11# 338 Terminator with the Banish 46. It reduces the recoil enough I didn’t feel like it wasn’t punishing but not as much as the brake did. I also didn’t need ear protection but the nicest part was not feeling the muzzle blast of the brake. I still just shoot it with the brake...
Through a suppressor I don’t feel the hornady 450bm 250gr are much louder than the subsonic so I don’t use the subsonic!
