The C6 barrel I received a few months ago shoots great. I’m getting some crazy high speeds from factory ELDX that I need to figure out, but at least it shoots good.
Not trying to be petty, but bullets fragment, and produce fragmentation, not shrapnel. Shrapnel was added to old artillery shells to target infantry. It’s just a pet peeve of mine that the terms are sometimes used interchangeably.

We are on our 3 and 4th BTs and love them. I would keep and eye out for bigger parents (20+ pounds) with at least some snout and it will hopefully keep you away from some of the problems you have been seeing. The boutique trend has been to breed them smaller and smaller with a very flat face.
Cascade,
It’s a pleasure to shoot at that weight. I am coming from a suppressed T3X 30-06 that weighed over a pound less. I will try and drop a few ounces in this rifle with a titanium suppressor in the future. I’m glad I didn’t choose the 7PRC that I was originally contemplating, but the...
I was in a similar boat. I hunt out West and went with a 6.5 prc. I would prioritize getting a suppressor. It really helps with recoil and general shooting enjoyment.
I would use the back Friday barrel sales to help decide on a new 6CM barrel or a takeoff 6.5CM barrel plus the chop and thread.
I’d be curious to hear how you think it compares to the Stocky’s VG? Weights are similar but it appears to have a longer forend, which I would prefer to help for balance with a sling.
I would actually prefer qd cups instead of sling swivels but that’s a different story.
Thanks for the review. I was just checking out the Unc on the FL sale but my body type seems very similar to yours and fit is a big thing. I’m right in between in some of their other stuff as well. I think I’ll end up passing.
From an outsider, Bergara seems like Tikka’s most direct international competitor. However, Bergara has been much more willing to modernize their lines of rifles (for better or worse). I too am looking forward to SHOT Show to see if Tikka releases anything new and exciting.
If the decision will be made based on recoil, I would play around with the recoil calculator. It helped me with a recent decision. It helped me to calculate the percentage increase or decrease to other rifles I was familiar shooting.

No worries. I would focus on good products for the climate even if it means a greater spread of brands. If you carry the brand’s product, even at a smaller volume, it makes it easy to special order products that you don’t carry for a customer.
