Took my 284 win build to Colorado for 3rd rifle season. Put it through some tough days. Learning to deal with snow and ice is a new ball game for a guy from ky.

For those using the High Desert Bottom Metal with a Stocky's VG2 did you have to do any inletting to get it to fit?

It's great. I've had it for about 2 years now and the process for getting it was a real pain. Just dropped in the barreled action and torqued it up and has been shooting great. I've taken it on a spring bear hunt in Idaho and several whitetail hunts and it's been great. AG is taking orders for inletting now, which should make the process of getting one smoother...

I am intrigued by the Rokstock and may try one of those out for my other Tikka when orders open back up.
How long is the trigger reach on the alpine hunter?

no the distance from the front of the grip to the trigger. have you measured it, it looks long

About 1/8” shorter than the factory stock. Guess it looks short because it’s a 20” barrel.

Edit: Just under 16.5” from tip of the forend to the trigger.

16” 6.5 CM I put together recently. Sent off a factory stock had layin around to have it custom Cerakoted, pillared and over sized lugged it. Dead Catted the barrel channel for a much better free float as well. Picked up a cheap stainless factory sporter barrel on eBay of unknown history that had been shortened and threaded with a shitty lookin crown job. Had my buddy with Mad Man Muzzle Works in W. TX knock another 2” off it and then he beautifully threaded/recrowned it. Tryin some D3 Precision dovetail scope rings off EBay as well. Lightweight and use chromoly recoil lugs front and rear. Priced very nicely too, see how they hold up. Mtn Tactical bottom metal, SHV 3-10, and a SiCo Harvester. Weighed in about 7.5 lbs with a full mag, no can or bipod. Sucker shoots 127 gr LRXs about 2600 fps better than I could’ve hoped for. Very simple and seemingly effective for not a ton of money other than maybe the NF. Little rig bangs steel at 600 almost boringly.

Started out life as a T3 Lite in .243 circa 2015. Pulled the barrel after 1600 rounds, although it was still shooting good, it started opening up a tad.

6mm CM
Osprey 1-7" 3b contour finished at 19"
Peak 44 Bastion, added a bit of paint.
Metal shroud upgrade, but still use the orginal factory plastic "bottom metal".

This is *chefs kiss*
Any regret on PRC vs CM? How’s the shootability out of an 8lb 10oz rifle? I’m over 11lb all up (with a can and bipod) on a 7rm looking to shed weight and ft lbs of recoil, just undecided on a PRC or CM

Dang that Tikka/Peak 44 looks great! Anyone with the same combo use an aftermarket bottom metal? My Tikka in Rokstok with an OMR bottom metal took a little grinding to get a decent fit.

Did you bed the stock or was it tight enough of a fit to not need it?

It is an excellent fit, I haven't bedded it. I may end up bedding the recoil lug but I'm going to do some more shooting with it first and see if I detect any POI shifts. The recoil lug is "snug", but a tiny bit looser in the stock than say a factory lug in the factory T3 stock. (Peak does recommend bedding the recoil lug, fwiw)

I put it in the stock, torqued it to about 50-55 in/lbs (has factory installed aluminum pillars) and shot the below group. First shot was high and left. The next 4 settled right in to its orginal zero. Could have been me, could have been the action shifting after the first shot.
