    Straight or angled spotter?

I much prefer a straight. Every time I try to use a friend's angled, it reminds me how much easier a straight is to use, and it improves your flexibility! (Trying to get behind the straight)

Light weight base camp tent...fast setup?

My Seek Tipi sets up and tears down really fast. It's not the most efficient use of space, but it works well and doesn't take up much room in the truck or in a backpack. I'm starting to learn that the fastest truck setup is to have a hard topper and sleep in there. Larger wall tents are nice for...

Salomon quest winter for elk hunting?

I have tried many different pairs of quest boots, and I enjoy using them. I've never tried the winter version, but all the others work well for me and don't really require any sort of break-in period. I take them out of the box and go!

    Wyoming Moose Area 10

I wish I could help, but I'll be curious to hear how your hunt goes. I'm looking at applying for that area next year and will probably have enough points to draw. Good Luck!

    Idaho vs Wyoming

I think the ultimate would be to live in Idaho long enough to get the lifetime license perks, then move to Wyoming. I met a guy that did it and now he can hunt Idaho OTC every year and hunt Wyoming now, as well. However, I have found out that there is such a thing as too many tags and not enough...

    Hunt-Fish-Vote Wyoming

Everyone who cares about the future of hunting and fishing in the state should check this page out. It's a one stop shop for voting resources for sportsmen and includes a candidate questionnaire for candidates running for office this year. I encourage everyone to read the responses from...

    Point Creep Got Me

In my opinion, I think the general tag is a better all around option than a mediocre LQ area. General gives you a lot of flexibility in season dates and areas, and can produce just as big of bulls. The only caveat to opting for general is that you'll have company. These days, all general units...

    Wyoming Thorofare Elk Questions

Since you are a resident, I would get a list of your top 3 outfitters together and call them. Ask if you can be first in line after any last minute cancellations or if their clients don't draw. There's a good chance they could sneak you in if one of their clients falls through and you are in the...

    Wyoming type 9 in Bighorns

Bighorns carry a lot of elk...but can have quite a bit of pressure. All in all, they offer some great hunts. The elk can get pretty smart due to calling, but there's no shortage of them. If you find elk and stay in them, one will eventually find its way into bow range.

Idaho Fish & Game In-person Tag Sales Strategy

I am totally for this. At this point, it is luck of the draw anyways, it is just the number you draw in the virtual waiting room. Just make it all go limited quota. I had friends that showed up in person, were the first in line, and still did not get the tags they were after.

    Guided WY Elk Hunt

Another option you have if you are worried about never catching up to a good limited quota area due to point creep is sharing your points with a buddy and you both would be able to come out and hunt on a general tag. With the right outfitter, bulls over 300 inches get killed every year in...

Vortex razor compared to Swarovski line

I have not looked through UHD's much, but I have a few times. I have used Swaro SLC 10x42s for a few years now. As mentioned above, I think the best move if you are not wanting to spend more than $1500 is to pick up a pair of used SLC 10x42s. I bought mine new for less than that, but they do not...
