Hey so I purchased a savage axis II (affordable entry level rifle) In 6.5 cm. I am using it to hunt whitetails, most shots would be under 200 yards but I want the option of reaching out to 300-350. Has anyone used the Terminal Ascents or Barnes TSX? If so how did you like them, accuracy? Blood...
My dad swears by the SST he has always used the 150 grain in his bolt action .308 but I can only find them in the 165 grain so that might be a option. Have they performed well up close and medium range?
Yeah I have been looking at the Winchester XPs and the American whitetails. These may be a good option cuz I’m not looking to break the bank with it being a new AR and unsure what it likes. Hopefully I’ll be lucky and it will shoot 150 or 165s well
Thanks everyone I think I’ll take the advice of buy a couple different grands and grains will start with the 150 and 165gr and see how it goes. Thanks for all your help. Will
Post some results after I find what my rifle likes
I’ve looked at Hornady SST and precision hunter they say they are very accurate but have seen a lot of people say there was poor performance in closer ranges, no blood trail and deer walking off etc. Might take a look at ballistic tips as Seuss mentioned. Saw the Remington introduced a newish...
Just recently built a AR10 .308 with 1:10 twist. Any opinions on what grain to use? I will be using this rifle to hunt whitetail. I’ve heard of grain range 150-170. Have been looking at Hornady super performance 165grain. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks again.
Thanks Cluggins I appreciate the reply. I think I am leaning towards the sig sauer. I think theirs is made in the Phillipines or atleast the entry level glass is. Just need a affordable scope with illuminated reticle. We will see how it goes!
I know this is a old thread but did you ever get the Riton scope? If so did you like it? Trying to decide between a Riton and a Sig sauer for my AR10 that I hunt with
True your probably right, the sig has a 3-9x50 that I could get I just don’t know how the two compare brands compare. So I was hoping someone may have experience on one vs the other and could tell me what they think. Sig is an established brand but you never know with entry level scopes. I’ve...
Hey thanks for the reply, I do not know much about that company but I have heard good things about them in threads. However for the hunting I will be doing I really don’t need that much magnification. Honestly the only reason I am going with 12x is in case I was to take some long shots at the...
Hey so I’m looking for a scope to put on my AR10 for hunting whitetail. I am looking to spend $400 or less. I have been looking at the sig sauer whiskey 3 hellfire and riton 1 primal 4-12x50 because of the illuminated reticle. Does anyone have any experience with these particular brands and...
