I load 85gr TSX for my dad in his 243... it's been his favorite load since I developed it.
I run 85gr Sierra in mine. That's the load my pap developed and killed truck loads of deer with it. No reason to change it.
Personally I believe setting 25% aside for 0 point holders is bull shit. Why did I waste time and $ buying a point last summer to have 25% of the quota given to people with no points.
I could see setting 500 tags aside for people who have never hunted big game in MT. The first timers. The rest...
I found myself debating this very thing. As it stands my great uncle lives in MT. So part of my hunt involves hunting and visiting with him. Hard to put a price on that.
Cost me 1300 to apply this year.. what's another couple hundred at that point. If it gets to 2000 I may consider other...
I've heard conflicting reports about how comfortable and uncomfortable saddles truly are. If I used one it would be primarily archery hunting.
I generally pack very light. Bow, knife, grunt tube, binos and fanny pack with a water and snacks in it.
Most of my current sets are hang on with...
Well I just realized odds are 34% or maybe less. I have 1 point for MT. Rep at FWP told me the non res big game combo odds have been going down since 2018 and last year were 34%. Fuel prices and Inflation may change that but I doubt by much.

As of now I have a vehicle reserved as a rental. 590$ for 10 days. Prices are up now.

Just applied to MT, if drawn this will be my 2nd trip.
First trip was in 2017.
Saw some elk, somehow called a lone cow in and sent an arrow over her back. Misjudged the yardage in a hurry. I bugled and she came in out of nowhere. Was a win in my opinion. Saw some amazing country and called in...
I spend most of post season time scouting and shed antler hunting. I relax a little in summer unless I'm trying to pattern a specific deer.
Trail cams on community scrapes year round is a great tool. Deer visit these areas often even if they aren't working the scrapes.
I recently set 2 cameras...
4.45 for unleaded here in NW PA, diesel is over 5$.
My boy has an 04 ram with a hemi in it. He's 18 and still in high school working part time.
Hes not liking these gas prices. Thinking about downgrading to a smaller pickup or car.
After heavy frustrations with Moultrie Deltas, I ordered some of the new Reveal X then the wife surprised me with a Reveal XB for Christmas. I haven't setup the Reveal x yet but I am very pleased with the XB.
The only complaint I have is a very wide detection range sometimes taking a photo...
