    Definitely spot on about Canada… Alaska Airlines also has a weight limit for ammo, I think it’s around 12 pounds or something. Either way sounds like flying would be the better option. Plenty of 556/223 up here and tons of beater trucks available for cheap.

    Highly recommend driving up if possible, but shipping your vehicle with Alaska Marine Lines and flying in is reliable also. Be prepared to be charged an arm and a leg for shipment of ammo, depending on where you’re headed they can only barge it in and you’ll end up paying the same (steep) price...

    Backcountry has a decent selection of used and affordable touring gear to get started with. Make sure you take some avalanche classes before going and know the limits of your gear. Nothing like resort skiing.

    Yet another reminder for trappers to run lines where there is limited to no known traffic from hunters or dogs. As a trapper one of my biggest fears is accidentally harming a dog in a set. I have passed up on many great set opportunities for this reason.

    Come up to SE AK, it’s a different world hunting these huge coastal black bears. Very good odds and a totally unique hunt.

    Berger Hybrids Hunter-Anybody have experience shooting Berger Hybrid Hunter for elk.

    Anchored a mountain goat at 403 yards with them. Should make light work of an elk with proper shot placement.
