Katabatic Sawatch 15 for MT rifle?

If you think you’d be warm in 15 degree quilt I’d recommend getting the flex version that way you can use it in much warmer temps and be able to unzip and vent the foot box. Both of those features makes it much more versatile. The draw string foot box won’t allow any drafts either so I wouldn’t...

    Pack/Gear Shakedown

Yea I didnt think the weight was noticeable. Not much different than my Baltoro lites in terms of weight. Not a light hiker by any means but doesn’t feel like I have bricks on my feet either

Good point. I haven’t loaded my pack yet so unsure but I’m almost positive I’ll take it even if I don’t need it space wise I’ll utilize it for organization. If it’s glaring that I don’t need it I’ll drop it. Thank you Haha I like the one that I don’t have to mess with 😂 Dropped it

The solar panel on my list weighs 3.39oz. That was measured by me. I’m sure whoever wrote 8oz included all the carabiner and shit that came in the box. 10w and like $20 so might be worth checking out. There’s been some lengthy write ups on it from thru hikers that use it extensively. Yea...

    Pack/Gear Shakedown

Got it, thank you. Do not have a spotter yet. Next year will have one and good to know it’ll be useful for bear. Instead of a z pad to sit on I actually use my inflatable pillow to sit on. I just let air out until it’s comfortable. Was sitting on rocks for a while last year and the foam pad...

    Pack/Gear Shakedown

Just wanna say thank you for your perspective. A lot of good tips in there that I wish more people could see. One thing that always bothers me when carrying a pistol archery hunting is that it’s on my pack and then have to switch to my hip if it’s off. I like that bear spray would stay on my...

    Pack/Gear Shakedown

Based off of dead middle of intermediate, I’m 100 calories off which is what I’m anticipating this hunt to be like. Percentages are all pretty close as well Protein 16.5% Carbs 45% Fat 38.5% If I add anything it’d be more carb heavy and would fit closer to his ideal percentages. Thanks for...

    Pack/Gear Shakedown

I’ve looked at it online but haven’t had my hands on it. I would like to check it out though. I started hunting with the regular bungee webbing style and it was way too bouncy. I really like the harness hugging my chest and not flopping around. This one is heavier but isn’t noticeable because of...

    Pack/Gear Shakedown

First time bear hunting so unsure but, I think I’ll be glassing enough to justify a tripod. I’m looking at the quick stix 3rd leg for the future for something like this. I’ll check out the aziak thanks Im hoping I don’t but bringing it as a backup. 3oz feels light enough to justify the...

    Pack/Gear Shakedown

It’ll be 6 days and I THINK I’ll be fine but not 100% certain so I’m taking the solar as a backup even if it’s to maintain a phone or inreach charge while glassing I typically would boil 8oz twice a day but I’m planning on 3-4 on this trip. I haven’t found the perfect dry foods that I enjoy so...
