Saw your bump- been a reeeal tough last few years in 55 and surrounding units (anecdotally speaking, and talking to locals)
Plus I hear there’s a plan to release wolves either nearby or in the unit. Last few seasons I’ve seen more moose than elk. Guides I’ve run into have reported similar.
Salewa has great customer service, and they make on hell of a mountaineering boot.
Vortex will appear on this thread a lot, and I can vouch for that. I drove my truck over my tripod and they replaced the thing. Unreal.
Kifaru has, in my experience, absolutely fantastic customer service. They...
Wanted to bring this old thread back up-
How’d everyone do in the earlier seasons? How’s the numbers this year?
ive hunted 55 every year since I was a baby and always had success and know the “pockets”. Even with the terrible elk numbers last year, I was able to take a nice 6x6 in the ‘19...
Beman ICS’s I would think would be similar to the Cabelas arrows and right in your price point. I had good luck with those for a few years.
If you’re willing to step up to around $75, Easton Axis‘ would be an excellent choice thats tried and true.
If you want to go more south, Sportco in Fife has a nice selection and a real good shop. The techs Ibe spoke to there always seemed to be on top of their game, unlike the cabelas and sportsmans warehouse guys.
Mike Hooper at The Nock Point in mountlake terrace is THE man! He’s set up my last 3 bows and he’s been spectacular. Excellent certified coach as well. They have pretty good selection, primarily carrying Hoyt’s if I remember right and a good used and discount section. They’ve never steered me...
I think you’ll be pleased With the Sevr’s, I sure hope they get to ya on time!
ive heard good things about the Rage’s without the break away collar... I think that’s the trypan?
Why not take a look at Christensen? I was in the same boat as you about 2 months ago, and I was driving myself nuts with options. I wound up getting a Christensen Ridgeline In 300wsm and have been nothing but pleased. Yes, I’ve read the horror stories but I also hear great things about their...
Hey guys, Does anyone knows of a different brand sunshade that would thread onto a Swarovski z5 3.5-18X44? Apparently Swarovski discontinued them. I can find them in all the other sizes except 44mm. I tried a vortex brand shade and the thread pitch was correct, but fit/finish was poor on the...
Did the ol’ covid situation force Sitka to hold off on these? I’m only seeing limited information on other retailer websites, and nothing on Sitka’s.
Think there is a shipping problem, or maybe waiting to try to do a second product release?
The flap not staying open very effectively makes me a...
i have a Ruger m77 in .338 win. and love it. Not exactly a long range hunter and it kicks like a mule on crack and steroids, but it’s never let me down. Never had any kind of problem. Between myself and my father, we’ve probably killed 15 elk with it.
I wanted all your opinions on buying new vs building up an existing rifle for mountain hunting.
What I had my eye on is a Christensen Mesa in 7mm Rem, But then I remembered I have a Remington 700 BDL in real nice shape that I haven’t done much with.
Would I be better off putting that money into...
In CO I used a katadyn type pump to filter water into MSR bladders to leave at basecamp. Worked fantastic, though a little slow. Here in WA, I’ve been using a two bag gravity filter (platypus I think?) for basecamp stuff in the cascades and haven’t had any problems. Granted there isn’t much to...
UPDATE.
Well I feel like a bit of a douche. You guys were right, I should have just called! DaySix reached out real quickly after I posted this. Daykota helped me troubleshoot to see if we could figure out where the difference may have come from, and totally helped me out and hooked me up.
I’m...
I just wanted to see what you guys thought about what I’m wondering is a consistency problem, or maybe a reformulation of the carbon shaft?
Definitely could be user error on my part as well.
I picked up my second set of DaySix 300’s, and I’ve noticed that they weigh more and are less consistent...
