Looking to buy a new .308 or .30-06 Tikka T3x - would you choose 1 in 10" or 1 in 11" twist?

Unless you are shooting 200+ grain high BC bullets, the 1-11 will be fine. Use a ballistic calculator and look at maximum effective range of the projectile you want to use at the muzzle velocities produced by the 308 or ‘06. You might be surprised at how far a 178 ELDX is effective.

In a 308 or ‘06 with hunting bullets, it doesn’t matter. In a 300 Win… definitely a 1-10.

Just get the 10 for maximum flexibility. Mostly will come into play with high BC monos.

100%. My 1/11 20” suppressed 06 tikka loves 178ELDM at 2750 from a variety of powders. I have bumped it up to 2840 but backed it back down. 2750 is plenty.

I personally think the 180ish weight and 06 is the sweet spot, and all the 1/11 -06 tikkas in my friend group all shoot 180’s bughole.

ETA: I didn’t consider monos cause I don’t shoot them, but that would be a point in choosing the 1/10.

10 twist will give the highest resale value. Used 11 twist barrels and guns are usually sold below the 10 twist price. Performance wise, I'd say if you want to shoot 180 grain or below use either. Above 180 grain use the 10 twist.
