Has anyone had time to use an AB Raptor 4 in 5.56 (AB bores them to accept 6mm) with any of the reflexes with a cartridge that has a pretty low powder capacity and a moderate muzzle velocity (2400-2600 fps)? Kind of like a 6.5 Grendel or a 6mm ARC?
I'm building a Howa Mini with a 16.5"...
I was thinking that but that sharp transitions from the shank to the barrel doesn't seem very appealing. I could be wrong.
In regards to fluting, would that much really be taken off to justify the cost off set and maybe having a weaker barrel? I have never had a fluted barrel so that is foreign...
Need opinions.
I decided to cancel my CarbonSix order (mainly do to all the wait time threads) and go with a Preffered Barrel Blank steel barrel. Where I need help is what contour to order the barrel in. The goal of this rifle is to be a compact, light, stalking/still hunting rifle to use down...
Apologies, I thought you were looking at it from a hunting standpoint. Sambar are definitely hardy animals, so much that young stag I shot was super tough on his meat. Lol I have personally never killed a whitetail or an elk that has meat as tough as that Stag and he was a young one.
Yes, extremely bad and the mosquitoes are worse. If the breeze stops, you will end up needing a blood transfusions due to being bit by mosquitoes so much. With the snakes, I have hunted Florida and Alabama public for the last 20 years. When I hunted that island, I saw more rattlesnakes in three...
From my experience, hunting that island, and being successful. Sambar deer on that island have ZERO rhyme nor reason of what they do. The stag I shot was in velvet, while other stags that were shot, were full on rut. Also the stag I shot, traveled over 3 miles in a matter of one day. This was...
I'm currently waiting on my parts to do a remage build but the build is as follows:
Barrel: 22 inch carbon six 1-8
Action: Gunwerks GRB
Stock: Gunwerks Clymer
Trigger: Triggertech
Goal for this rifle is a 0-700 yard hunting rifle on deer and black bear size game.
So with that out there, I...
C6 isn't offering installations due to their high order volume. Both the Leupold V6 and the Zeiss V4 are heavier than the V5 by several ouncers. I'm curious what makes you pick one of those scopes over the V5?
I appreciate that. Yeah I'm on the same conclusion. I was going to reuse one of my Howa action but by the time I get this factory rifle trued and weight taking off of it. What I spend in that will be close to what I could just get that Gunwerks action for. I was also looking a mac bros action...
So over the last few months I have been looking at fierce rifles etc. Looking at the price and figure I would just "build" my own rifle. I'll be doing a remage "build". Here is what I am looking at.
Action: Gunwerks GRB. I was going to get a R700 and have it trued, etc but by the time I spend...
I should've read this post before I made my post. I'm going through this same delima with a saddle hunting pack. Except I would use the sherman to hold my platform against the bag and extra "gear/snacks" in it.
As the title states I need help finding a saddle hunting pack. I have been through a few packs and there always seems to be something I don't like about the packs I get. I currently have a Trophyline Sumpter pack and like it but the two main things I dislike about the packs is what makes me want...
All depends on how much you tune your bow. Me I bareshaft tune my bow to 30 yards so when I shot them I only had to make slight rest adjustments at 60 yards but they are extremely easy to tune. Once they are tuned they fly great and very forgiving.
Honestly great heads especially for the price. The only con I can see in them is I think they have a bevel that is over 30 degrees so sharpening them on a KME or Lanksy can be a pain but if you can free hand on a paper wheel you can get them sharp. Granted you can get them sharp on a KME it just...
1.) I think for both the .204 and .165 ID arrows the sleeves cover about a half inch of the arrow.
2.) So how the work is the insert actually goes about an inch inside the arrow (of course you can cut the insert to different weight) and another 1/4" sticks out the end. The end of the inserts...
That pinwheel software runs like 20-30 fps faster than most other calculaters. For my 30" I34 set at 82lbs (ibo i think 343) ends up putting my 610 grain arrow in the low 280s if I recall. When in reality it chronos at 267 fps. So what I have to do is adjust the IBO tell I get the real...
