Where are you hunting? What terrain? What time of year? I can get away with light weight gaitors where and when I am hunting.
I have a borah bivy, used it on a 5 day scouting trip last week and am not overly impressed. I think durability will be an issue down the road. When you consider cost...
I had one at one point and really liked being able to shoot with it in the off season and stretching out the yardage. But too many opportunities missed because of dialing in range. Having that one animal spook 15 yards after you draw one time will make you want those fixed pins again. Stuff...
I have a week in early June or a week in Mid July I could scout. Location would be southern colorado, for an archery elk hunt, OTC. Was in the same general area last year and had some success but want to check out new areas as well.
If you could chose why would you choose one time over the other?
I do the same. Waterproof bag for what really needs to be water proofed.
I also take a poncho on every hunt. Its a Marine thing, I think.
It still comes in very handy when showers pop up in the mountains. I keep it where I can easily access it. It covers me, my pack and my bow. Very...
The weight thread got me thinking on this one. How to shave more ounces.
Post your pack list and total weight. Everything you take for say a 5 day archery elk hunt, September in Colorado.
I was just going to post for a generic list, but I know it will change according to each hunt.
Weights...
Sleeping bag, still use the 3 part military sleep system. Two bags and goretex shell. I change bags from cold to warm season hunting but it is still pretty heavy. Still putting pennies away for Kifaru slick bag.
Same thing here. I think I would like the .10 better on all pins. I have my axcel armortech set up the same way. 20, 30, 40 and 50 in .19 then 60, 70, and 80 at .10 but I think the .10 allows me to be more accurate at all yardages.
