Nightforce ATACR/ MOAR: FFP vs. SFP Reticle Comparison Demo - YouTube
Good demonstration on how reticles change in size at different power.

1. Pick one and stick with it. MOA was easier for me to pick up on due to it seemed there was way more hunters shooting MOA and it seemed to me there was more information on it at the time. Whichever one you choose make sure the dial and the subtension lines are the same. Believe it or not there...
Acceptable is going to vary from person to person. Is dead dead? Yes. Some calibers kill quicker than others. Many people I shoot with believe it or not shoot their “big” 30s just as good as a 7 or smaller caliber rifle. Yes these are 9-11 lb guns finished. If somebody isn’t shooting a “big” 300...
I won’t disagree with this one bit.
With all the shooting you have witnessed over the years what percentage of people would you say can shoot 1/2 MOA groups at 800 yards with rifles like this even in the smaller calibers? I haven’t seen hundreds of thousands of rounds sent down range...
The only reason I am arguing this is the OP is wanting to shoot 800 yards and he talked about passing up a bull which I assumed was an elk at 650 this year which is beyond his limits. He was discussing maybe getting a different caliber. For deer sized game a 6.5 is an incredible caliber. Being...
If you are getting a CM to push the 147 at 2850 I think we should make it fair and push the 215 closer to 3000. Here is wind calls for my 300 WM vs my 6.5 CM.
I get what you are saying though. The 6.5 does have a great BC. The smaller caliber make great learners because generally they do...
I would still have to disagree due to bullet selection within the calibers. Your won’t know how a ulcer preforms until it goes through an animal. Muzzle velocity and energy don’t kill animals. Terminal performance kills animals. When shooting elk at long range IMO a well placed shot with a 300...
This is a pretty good weight for all around. It will be more forgiving than a rig around 9 lbs and still not be too bad for packing around the mountains. What caliber are you going with?

130 VLD
1. I’m curious what the difference between a 30-06 or 308 and a 300 WM is both shooting the same bullet if the impact velocity is the same? Impact velocity is impact velocity. Once the same bullet is in the air it doesn’t matter what shot it.
2. Terminal performance speaks for itself...
Yeah that cracks me up too. I do not desire grapefruit holes at longer ranges. Unfortunately I have not found a bullet that performs exactly how I want it to at all ranges. You just need to know what the bullet you are shooting is designed to do , caliber limitations and what your personal...
It all depends what you are looking for in a bullet and shot placement is key. Being this is a long range section I would imagine we are all talking about bullets being used for long range. If you shoot a deer with a Berger in the shoulder up close you are most likely going to lose quite a bit...
I would disagree with this after seeing a bear shot at 600 yards double lunged with a 6.5 creedmore this year trot away for 150 yards. It was a good broadside shot and the bullet exited. He was roughly a 450 lb bear and made it pretty far. I have no doubt that distance would have been cut in...
Ultra light rifles generally don’t make good long range rigs for beginners at long range. Every little piece of bad form gets amplified extremely. I’m not saying it can’t be done but I think a finished rifle weight with optics for something in the long range should be 9 lbs or better.
That...
A ton of animals have been killed by guns that shot 1.25 moa. I wouldn’t be too quick to judge. It all depends what you are wanting to do. If its a long range setup it’s not what I would personally look for.

With a 26” tube I don’t think the RUM would get a 245 over 3000 FPS. The 300 lapua and 300 Norma improved most likely would or right at but at that point I personally would go with a 338.
There’s something magical about a 300 grain bullet traveling at those speeds.
Either way all the options...
After hunting with both I will say that this is simply not the case. I am by no means saying the 6.5 Is an inadequate caliber but my 6.5 creedmore doesn’t hit anywhere close to as hard as my 300 WM.
Each caliber serves its purpose but when you start thinking a 130-140 grain bullet is going to...
I have had great results with Bergers. This year I started using a 6.5 creedmore instead of my 300 WM. Shooting the 130 grain VLD I have had excellent results. My daughter shot this whitetail at 300 yards and made a great shot. This is the exit hole.
I shot a 300 lb black bear last week at...
I’m not griping about people abusing the system. I was just curious how it works in an audit situation if your business has never received any income. If that were the case everyone would own a business and write everything they did off.

While in a hunting situation it’s is almost always avoidable in other situations it is not. I agree at all costs a gun should not be pointed at yourself or anyone else. I have some hunting photos that appear the gun is pointing at the person on the picture but in reality it is 3 feet in front of...
