I saw so many and I wasn’t even looking for them. If I recall correctly, they said they’re historically almost 100% success when goats are the target species. From what I gather a lot of guys combine them with moose and then see where they live and bail. Haha if you’re looking at a goat hunt you...
I would have to say they were top notch. I know the review you speak of and I think there’s a few of those out there for most outfitters if you look hard enough. I wouldn’t judge on one experience. Their area is awesome, guides are really good and they’ve all been there with Craig awhile (my...
I just got back from hunting stone sheep with Craig Kiselbach at Terminus Mountain and there were days I saw 50+ goats. Several guys hunted them while I was there and most finished up in two or three days.
I’m 6’ and about 190 and felt cramped in mine. Sold it and bought a 2 person kuiu and much prefer the space. I also felt like the vestibule on the Soulo was a little small for my liking.
I recently filed my import permit and was told that they are starting to finally process the Mongolia argali’s. The backlog is substantial from what I’m told. It’s my understanding that they’ll process all the Mongolia permits and then begin work on the Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan permits.
I sheep hunted here last year and it was a complete disaster of an operation. Guide was a young kid who had never sheep hunted. Dropped us on a lake where no sheep were present. After hiking our guts out for 5 days and no sheep they wanted $5k+ to move us into another area. The old owner sold it...
March is an awesome scope for this category as long as you stay with a 52mm objective to avoid some of the tight eyebox issues on the 42mm.
I have one particular scope that’s been all over the world and back and I’ve never adusted the zero. It’s been incredibly reliable.
I hunted Spain earlier this month with Pablo Carol and Wild Hunting Spain and I don’t think anyone could do a better job than they did. It was an incredible trip. Hunted Gredos/Beceite Ibex and Cantabrian/Pyrenean Chamois.
I have done many hunts with Profihunt, including all three tur, and have always had good experiences.
Artem and Vladimir are top notch in my opinion.
Maxim mentioned above is a well known outfitter too but I’ve not personally booked through him.
I agree with kota. Few things out there are as amazing as the BTX and I can glass all day with little eye fatigue. The main issue is weight. For this thing to shine you need the 95 or 115 objective and at that point it’s HEAVY.
I use the Wrightsock Cool Mesh II socks and they’re the best I’ve used across the board. As some have said, sometimes it’s the boots. I can wear Kennetrek boots with almost any sock and avoid blisters. The minute I switch over to lighter mountaineering style boots like Scarpa or Hanwags I get...
I used the burner in Kyrgyzstan in sub zero temps and snow in November and it was awesome. I would tend to think it would be overkill for anything near freezing and moving around. If closer to freezing I’d look at the stone glacier down and a shell of some kind. Would save a few dollars.
I’m using N550 in my 7mm Rem Mag and I’ve shot it anywhere from 70 to -10 degrees without issues. I abandoned H1000 because I got much better ES and SD with the N550. I can’t comment on barrel life since it’s a hunting rifle and I don’t shoot it a tremendous amount.
I don’t forsee any logistics issues affecting his hunt unless the war were to spill over into other countries. Almost all the Stans will be accessed via Turkish Air via Istanbul.
@wildwilderness, do you know what airlines the individuals referenced used?
I’ve hunted Kyrgyzstan multiple times...
