Last I checked lots of money goes into conservation efforts from both R and NR. I am a RMEF member and when I send in money it makes it help with habitat I will probably never see in my life. We have the same issue in IL with whitetail, too many unlimited tags regardless of residency...
I completely agree with your sentiment, those fortunate enough to live in western states still relay on tax dollars from non residents. States that view NR as a nuisance dont deserve our money.....and as Randy says its our land.
I hunted on a large farm in IL and the landowner said it best...
I was planning on an archery elk trip to CO then my buddy pulled out. Moved the trip to Nebraska for mulie to accommodate him and imagine my surprise when......" i can only go to Nebraska for 3 days" UGH. I am either putting in for Utah mule or will make a last min decision to go to CO. I...
This sly devil keeps alluding me so far. The farm has a standing bean field so this is the closest food source in the area. Time to start getting aggressive and hunt from the ground. No more pics just seeing him from 100 yards away on 3 occasions, gun season is next weekend so we will see
Sorry to say I missed him this morning....nothing more frustrating then walking to your stand and just when i am about to climb up a does jump out of the wood about 20 yards and who is behind her but the big boy. No chance to do anything, good news is he didn't even know I was there. Instinct...
Sheriff buddy of mine called me this morning, lots of bucks on the move this am and couple hit by cars. He showed my a pic, small guy certainly a good sign that things are heating up in N IL. Off all next week woohoo!!
I like to dab a little behind the ear and shake my ass for the big boys.....seriously though.
I am a big fan of cutting out tarsal glands from a doe off the property and dragging behind me on my way in. I did use VS1 for sometime but it got so expensive and kept forgetting to order before...
Was out in the snow this morning on the IL WI border. No deer but last night mature bucks were on their feet checking does. Next 10 days are what we live for.
Saw him tonight chasing does 100 yards from my stand. Not sure if it’s angle of the camera but seeing him on the hoof makes a difference. He is way past his ears and tall. Big body to boot, 4.5 years plus. I will put him down given the chance.
Pulled cards on another camera and he is definitely posing, he is finally showing up during shooting hours. By the looks of his body, he is at least 4.5. If he shows up tomorrow with this major cold front, he is in trouble.
