Several of those are tortoise or turtle. The "lines" are what makes those easy. Most of the others are too fragmented for me to see anything identifiable.
I've got a Dead Air Mask in jail that I hope to have soon (this will be my first suppressor). I'm looking at a 22 to put it on, and am looking at CZs. I really like the 457 Royal, but they are unfortunately threaded 1/2x20 instead of 1/2x28. There are a number of $20-$30 dollar adapters made...
FWIW, I am one who has witnessed poor performance on moose with an all copper (barnes) in a 280ia. 2 penciled at about 35 yards, one shoulder and one through the ribs. Had the same issue with the same round at 300 yards on a black bear shoulder shot. We did recover both animals but I'm kind...
I wish my Kimber would have been half the rifle my Fieldcraft is. But that is working with a sample of one for each. Glad the word is Kimber has their QC issues worked out - but will be excited if/when the Fieldcraft comes back out, especially given the Wilson Nula disappointment.
I've seen several very clean ones on GB over the last couple years going going in the 800-900 range. I think a lot of folks would buy them and send them to Melvin to get a near Nula at a cheaper price. Not sure if his shop is still upgrading the old Forbes and Colt Lights or not...
16 gauge Fox Sterlingworth. The new toy for this season isn't really a sub-gauge but it acts like one. A 6lb Joseph Lang box lock with 2 1/2 chambers. I like old stuff!
I've had surprisingly good luck with the original version of the Chugach pants. I think they are on their 5th AK backcountry hunt next week, and worn nearly every day on those trips. Every year I add a small patch or two. I have a new pair of the Chugach TRs but haven't taken them on a trip...
As well stated above, the modest velocity of the 30-06 makes the "old fashioned" cup and core bullets still a great match for many applications- especially for deer sized game at normal ranges.
My son has a Sierra Design Cloud 9 that has a sleeve to hold the pad in place (and no insulation where the sleeve is). Its a nice light 20 deg down bag (under 2 lb) but I'd call it more of a 30 deg bag.
