I have both and prefer the XOP stand. I agree with the above comment about the quick mount bracket being more solid than the lone wolf ez-hang. Makes a big difference on how secure the stand feels. Differences otherwise have no real winner except the XOP seat is more comfy. My favorite climbing...
Gotcha, I agree that during the hunt I like hearing music a lot less. Would rather have the natural sounds of the hunt and not any sort of music. I do like some intros with music though. For example, The Mountain Project's intro this season plays well with the music and I don't see a loss of...
Very hit or miss. Saw a ton of people this year compared to previous years. Still can find good deer but have to think outside the box and walk a ton. There's good opportunity, but other states certainly have better hunting.
That's a good point too. Anytime I get to an area I wasn't previously able to see I try to always stop and glass. Definitely pick out more deer that way.
You can definitely look for an area with certain characteristics, so the odds they end up in good stalking terrain are higher. The sandhills are difficult to stalk in because of no great landmarks. I typically use clumps of grass, yuccas, or unique hills.
In SD there is a wide variety of...
The problem was definitely too much glue. Thanks for the tip. Finished the rest out pretty quick.
A tip to anyone doing it in the future, if you flip the arrow around after your final fletch on your first set of 3, flip the arrow around and it'll be lined up for your fourth fletch. I tried...
Vanes similar to the ones in the top of the picture. Same brand, maybe a size bigger? I have had a lot of excess glue come out so maybe thats the issue. What does that look like when it happen? Usually mine partially stick, but if any pressure is put on them it fails and falls off.
Sent from my...
Been six fletching the last few days with a borrowed Bitz. I have been having issues with fletchings sticking to the shaft. Everything is wiped down with acetone before hand and I have been using loctite gel control glue (Never had an issue before with it). Any ideas? Is there something with the...
They are comfy. I have made a couple stalks in them before and they are pretty quiet. Also excellent for stream crossings! I have a insulated pair for the winter and uninsulated for the rest of the year.
I have had the same issue. I brought it up to him how I payed for basically everything we did. After that he started to pay more when we would go and we started hunting together less. Kinda sucks, but it is what it is. How much do you value his company? In the end that's what it came down to for me.
Youtube also has some great resources. I can't recall all of the videos I have watched, but there is a ton out there. While not directly photography related, Steven Drake, who is a photographer associated with a lot of Sitka Gear's media, has a pretty informative blog about photography and video...
I have a 2010 Ram 1500 and can haul my 16ft vnose trailer just fine in the mountains while loaded up. I don't know if I would want to go much bigger than that. I can't say much for camping in it, but your vehicle will haul a 16ft just fine. I would highly recommend putting e-track in it. e-track...
I guess I am trying to think of a way to learn the calls that allows you to listen and not have to click on the individual pre-defined links for the sounds, which gives away what you are listening to ahead of time. Having to guess what you are hearing before you know what it is would be more...
I made the mistake of saying what it was, so they wanted to look. Ended up not having to because the guy who ran the office knows my father. I was certainly not going to argue, had nothing to hide.
I think it would be helpful to have a randomize functions on the calls thats on a loop. After the call is played have a slight delay and say what the call is. Would be a good way to learn the different calls by sound with no idea what they were before hand.
