    Soundgear vs Walkers

I personally would advise against it especially if you shoot at a busy range or around others shooting breaks. I don’t feel you get the same level of coverage even if the decibel ratings are the same. I’ve used the Walkers and didn’t care for the headache I had at the end of the day. I...

    Bipod help

I like a bipod to cover all heights from low prone to a high kneeling position. I've used a lot of them and the Hatch Outwest bipod is by far my favorite so far. Does everything you want and attaches via pic rail.

    Anyone Kill with A-Tip's yet?

I'll preface this by saying that I am NOT making any definitive statements about the bullet or it's performance and this is based solely on my limited experience with them on game this past hunting season. I'll also note that I hunted with Barnes TTSX's for several years before last season when...

    Anyone Kill with A-Tip's yet?

I’m not to familiar with the Sauer but if it’s a short action and depending on mag/chamber length you may not have enough case capacity to push those 156’s fast enough for your liking. The ELDX’s (and M’s for that matter) have shot excellent out of everything I’ve run them through, mind you...

    Anyone Kill with A-Tip's yet?

6.5 PRC, the ELDX’s shoot great out of my rifle both factory and handloads, but I’m not confident that they’ll perform the same way everytime.

    Anyone Kill with A-Tip's yet?

What's happening fella's, I'm curious if anyone has killed with the A-Tips yet and how they performed. I ran ELD-X's this year out of my PRC and wasn't happy with their performance, inconsistency namely. ELD-M's last year and was slightly happier with those. 3 animals with the ELD-M's and 5...

    Montana High Country Archery Killers

It's weird how much it effects your priorities with the ability to hunt mule deer during the rut. I honestly prefer mule deer hunting to elk but since we always have the option of hunting the rut most guys tend to focus on elk in September. I started this season chasing mule deer up high but...

    Is 2525fps fast enough to start a 143 ELD-X?

Broz can do a better job of explaining this than me but I'll try my best. While it's true that there are standards for every caliber in the way the reamer is spec'd, gunsmiths and manufacturer's can tweak the specs of the way their reamer is ground. The most common tweak is to the free-bore...

    Which gun

How far of a range do you have access to? Honestly if you're just learning and not planning on hunting with it at this point I would push you hard towards a 6.5 Creedmoor. Cost of ammo and barrel life being the 2 main reasons. My current hunting rifle is a 6.5 PRC but I wouldn't waste my...

    Is 2525fps fast enough to start a 143 ELD-X?

It's possible that his crono is reading incorrectly but it sounds like he got first round hits out to 600 with the muzzle velocity he indicated so I'd guess it's reading accurately. There's a lot more variables that effect muzzle velocity than just barrel length. Just the difference in reamer...

    Is 2525fps fast enough to start a 143 ELD-X?

It’s all about impact velocity. Call Hornady, they’ll tell you their recommended minimum impact velocity. Look at your solver and that'll tell you your maximum range. More muzzle velocity just extends the distance before you run into your minimum impact velocity.

    MT Public Land Mountain Buck

Nice work! Cool deer, I love our heavy mountain bucks. I'm bummed the season's over, I never turned up a good one but saw a ton of cool deer. There's a few I hope make it through the season/winter. Scouting season starts tomorrow!

Easy tips to increase your long range shooting

Running long range rifle matches has no bearing on determining the ethical distance at which a shot on an animal should be taken. I shoot plenty of matches, I just shot the PRS finale 2 weeks ago but shooting my 20 pound 6 BRX positionally with no bipod off nothing but a gamechanger at steel...

Easy tips to increase your long range shooting

I totally get your intentions challenging guys to practice more. Unfortunately most guys still only make time for 1 range trip a year. The "Ditch the Bipod" heading just struck a nerve with me because I've been hearing more guys (who don't practice much) encourage others not to use a bipod...

Easy tips to increase your long range shooting

There’s a weird trend I’ve been hearing about around my parts where guys are choosing not to carry a bipod on their rifle. I take issue with this and consider it extremely bad advice especially since you posted this in the long range hunting forum. You mention in your article shooting off your...

    Compact/light/suppressed/mule deer/ kid gun

When you said put something together I assumed going custom but $1500 doesn't really allow for that unless you have a donor action. Do you have any donor rifles that would be a candidate? I think that may still be the best way to get what you want.
