You are hitting pressure before you hit the max reference velocity?
Pressure does exist. Following a book load, velocity is the best indicator of pressure. Not unusual for it to take a little bit more powder than what the book lists to hit the velocity listed as max in a reloading manual
Use on a Dillon on top of the powder die instead of a Dillon measure. The powder drop tube gets the funnel above the dies where there is room. Then you can drop powder with whatever you want, and still get some of the speed benefit of a progressive. Transfer over by hand by powder cup from an...
My pint size with git lite was dead on one pound, I took fill out so as they come overfill IMO. It now has sand+git lite, it’s a nice combo actually. But I use a schmedium way more.
My Schmedium with git lite is 1,75#
Last year I carried the git lite schmedium hunting and my daughter shot...
I suggest a $30 lee perfect, use the beam scale to set it to dump the correct charge weight. Then forget about the scale. Pick up loading block with 50 empty cases and charge all 50 direct into the loading block. Seat bullets. Spend all your time and $$ saved and shoot more.
Guys win in PRS...
Full length arca for me. I elk hunted in 5deg F temps last fall and the rail wasn’t an issue for me at all, if I didn’t use a gun bearer most of the time I might feel differently about it.
Actually what the photo shows isn’t really what matters. What matters most is the reticle is leveled to gravity. The scope can be rotated slightly and as long as the scope is leveled to gravity the error will be extremely small. Say the center of the scope is offset from the bore laterally 1/8”...
I didn’t derive it, it’s a concept in statistics for adding random variables
https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/courses/ap-statistics/classroom-resources/why-variances-add-and-why-it-matters
Also applies to reloading of course. Folks spend lots and lots of time doing things that don’t make...
This is really an important and misunderstood concept, stacking errors.
They aren’t really additive. It’s more like square root of the sum of the squares. So the combined error is closer to 3.8MOA than 5MOA. What you find is the largest source of error (shooter in this case) absolutely dwarfs...
Have you compared to manuals? Nosler lists ~3000 with a 142 and 26” barrel. So subtract approx 25fps/in*6” and you get ~2850fps.
So you probably have some more velocity potential, approx 75fps if you want to run at max pressure. Your load looks very reasonable for a 20” barrel to me.
They look like a real advantage to me, speed of deployment. I’ll probably pick one up when available. I’ll run it without a head, just a plate screwed onto the top.
I haven’t used an inverted tripod, but here is my thoughts on this one:
My Leofoto LS323c is not the nearly the equal of my...
You are loading to approx 270 weatherby velocities in a 270 Winchester with a “long throat”. Seating bullets out isn’t gaining you 15+gr of case capacity.
You are over certainly over 65ksi.
The 280ai also has a SAAMI MAP pressure limit of 65ksi vs the 280rem at 60ksi.
Even beyond that, folks typically read PO ackleys book or internet loads and handload Ackleys beyond pressure limits anyway because they think they are magic.
The 270 win is not an anemic cartridge at all, its SAAMI pressure limit is 65ksi. A 150 at 3200 would be more than 65ksi.
It’s not just case capacity, it’s bore diameter too. A smaller bore diameter reduces velocity because the area the pressure pushes against is smaller.
