ordered some first lite gear on 11/23. Still has not shipped. Was hoping to have it in 11 days for NJ deer week starting Monday 12/5. Very disappointed to have to pay for 2 week shipping.
Wont bait, but live on a farm. So long term baiting with extra cost associated, corn, soybeans, clover didn't grow naturally in clean large acre fields, Iffy on bait, but let him use a crossbow... but I digress.
Not a parent, I feel your sentiment about the first deer being a 'big buck', I hate...
What ever pair cost $100 or less and not PVC. They usually last 2 years if a budget or entry level. Only one's that have lasted are top of the line LL bean for uninsulated and top of the line drake insulated for waterfowl. But so expensive for not being dependent on it.
Neat perspective, growing up 20 miles from New York City, you'd be surprised how much outdoor opportunity there is, but no culture of hunting, hunting friends are few and far between. I remember leaving the house around 6:30am with the beagles to chase rabbits, the 80 year old neighbor ask what...
Bow's really haven't changed in the last 5-7 years, especially Mathews. The cross centric cam is nearly the same on the Halon as the V3X. If you are going to become a bow hunter, then sure purchase a new rig, only after shooting multiple brands at a shop. Otherwise, to scout with an...
I hated pictures and being in pictures. I had <100 photos from 2015 to 2021. I had lived in another state for 2 years, and I can scroll through my time there in 30 pictures, 2 include me. Most are blurry fish pictures or grouse/deer I shot. Wishing I took more photos. But not saturating the...
I fish for pike in the North East, fairly easy fish to catch. In order id say spoons/metals > jerk baits > chatter bait > inline spinner over typical bass spinnerbait.
As for flies, a nice shiny 3-6" streamer. Id get a few silver holographic, chartreuse, and black. I throw 'striped bass'...
Im as close to a one gun man as i'll get, and im at 6 minimum. I use a pump 12 gauge for rabbit (mossberg 500), over under for birds (condor), semi for ducks (m3500). Pump slug for deer. As for rifles, I like to track on snow in the NE, so a Remington 760 '06 with irons, and savage axis in .270...
V3x > G@y
Throw some makeup on the pig again. I'd assume a quick disconnect bridge mount quiver would be next. If using all bridge mount accessories, should be able to pull that quiver in very tight
But somehow, they will reduce vibration another 90% and be more deadly in the hand. . . or at...
They more you crank down your sight, the more you have to squeeze your face to see center the sight housing in the peep. Your lip and nose anchor don't move, but the bow sight moves up causing a steeper angle.
How many of you guys are putting in for what ever tag is available? I only apply for zone 8 and surrounding areas antlered. I may start applying for 1,2,3,5,7 to up my odds.
I know zone 8 well from deer hunting and always see some good moose. No love the 2 years I was a ME resident, but now...
Damn, id pay $100 for the rest and stab? I know you said not splitting up. But in case you want to down the road. . .
Hell of a deal if someone snags this
I've hunted Maine, but the 9 hour drive makes it hard to pull off now with work. Adk's are 4 hours, so I'm looking to switch this year. Nothing beats tramping through some snow covered wilderness with a 760 in hand.
Don't forget, the Salerno brothers if were talking about big woods killers...
I have a 32" draw length, with a drop away rest behind the riser, I have my arrows cut 1/2 inch past the rest at full draw.
I'm shooting fmj 250's at 70lbs with 125 magnus stingers, stock inserts. Overall arrow is a hair over 500 grains. Getting slung by a mathews traverse. Which reminds me...
Every year is always the worst year for ticks in ages. Permethrin and always keep my clothes doused year round. This year I have had 3 ticks on my clothes. Which is about my average over the last 5 years. But now turkey hunting and working on a buddies property, so I expected that number to go...
So far I cancelled a fishing trip to Lake Champlain. Partly due to gas, but mostly I had a axle spindle snap and had it rewelded, but I don't trust it 100% for a 6 hour drive. Hunting will be sticking closer to home, but looking to do NY Catskills, possibly ADK's instead of Maine for deer...
Nice, before you fly back out west, Maine is a 10 hour drive and has the densest black bear population of any state. The fauna should be similar to WA (based on latitude not experience), but it's lacking mountains, and even hills. There isn't a walk a logging road to a good overlook type hunting...
