Why not a 7SAW? Same bolt face as your 6.5CM so wouldn't have to change that. I enjoy shooting my 6.5PRC and wonder if I would have been fine with it in a short action instead of the long action route that I went.
Agree with all of the others, you can't have flow and sound suppression. Bolt guns are inherently not gassy, so don't see the need for the flow through. I have a CAT JL that is supposed to be lower back pressure, but is neck and neck with my Magnus for sound. You could possibly give something...
It is marketed with the brake and it appears it is normal for people to run it. It's 6.16" as configured with the brake. Sure, take the brake off to make your point valid.
TBAC is quieter than the Scythe going off of SiCo's ads for a 300 WM. Nomad XC quieter than Magnus, Magnus quieter than...
I'm not sure if you're looking at the original Nomad or the newer 3d printed Nomad XC's. Its 0.5" longer for DT vs DT. For an extra 0.5" if it outperformed the Magnus S, which according to TBAC's Summit it did, I'd take that additional performance any day..
I've run my full size Magnus, Magnus S, and Omega 300 on mine. Just got the Nomad Ti XC to try on it. Buddy has the Enticer and it falls somewhere in the middle, definitely not as quiet as the Magnus or CAT JL.
I would recommend looking at the new Dead Air Nomad Ti XC. It is quieter than the D STi, and about the same weight as the Scythe while being quieter. It also has end caps that can be swapped out for more caliber specific options.
I've swapped almost exclusively to Straight Jacket Armory and have had zero issues. Prefits and custom chamberings alike have shot well. Also check out their video on the Youtube about swapping a Tikka barrel for the first time. May be worth sending to them to remove the original barrel.
Fierce along with Christensen I’ve recently gotten to witness first hand at the range rifles that had to be sent back. But you are right, for every 10 bad reviews on anything you’ll be lucky to see 1 positive. Most people don’t post if there isn’t something to complain about.
Put me in the Sig camp. Multiple threads on other forums about CA not shooting and their CS chiming in on threads. My last two range trips have involved CA rifles that won’t group. Guy today is considering buying a new rifle 3 weeks before he leaves for a hunt. Older CA rifles were good, now...
DbA for absolute decibels, and the impulse number. Can also look at the peak wave and see how quickly it settles out. If length is not a concern the Magnus is great. I have it, Magnus S, and after reading through the dayabi ordered the Nomad Ti XC. The Nomad Ti appeared to be the equivalent to...
I really want to build a short 7PRC, but feel like you need some weight for the recoil and spotting shots. My 7PRC now is a comp style build and shooting suppressed it’s a nice recoil, but not unmanageable. What weight are you running for the rifle?
Thanks for the recs and I know inside of 600 yards ELD-M’s fly well, but I got tired of sorting them by length for our local 600 yard FPR competitions. I’ll look again at the 162 ELD-X as well.
I don’t disagree, I had already ordered the Cross in 6.5CM as a truck/range toy and got the 7SAW itch. It was minimal money to add that barrel. I really just like building guns if I’m being honest lol, my short action collection far outweighs my long actions. Scopes are just too darn expensive lol.
I recently built a 6.5PRC on a Lone Peak Razor Ti in a long action and have been enjoying that gun, but after running across the 7SAW I really liked the cartridge. Especially running on a short action 308 bolt, which I have 3 of. Had an order in at Straight Jacket for one of their Sig Cross...
