    Are you using the binos solely to wear? I'm a fan of 10x32 around the neck and think the 40mm+ is too bulky. As a side-note, I prefer 15x Kaibabs or Swaro SLC to the 50mm scopes understanding that I want to pair it with a big objective scope.

    You don't have to convince me because I like a certain amount of weight. I will say that I am not shooting game at 100 yards but if a person can reliably shoot a very light setup at 60, then it might be an option with merit - sort of like saving 5lbs on a pack.

    Google Earth and review topo maps. Understand the predominate winds and it is amazing how quickly you can hone in on areas of interest.
