Taking a friend to a prime spot

You misunderstand, the OP HANDED his buddy a spot, his buddy didn’t find it himself. If a stranger hunts that same spot and wasn’t clued into it by your friend, well that’s public land hunting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Taking a friend to a prime spot

I would definitely have to ask him about your agreement and get his explanation. I would have to know what he was thinking. Then cut ALL ties, period. Could be awkward if his kids hang with your kids or you work with him. Best policy is tell no one. I have a friend who confided a spot to me...

    Are you a bull hunter?

Yeah, I too hold out for 340+ bulls until a legal bull shows up then my standards drop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Pre-season Scares

This thread is downright depressing. And funny too. How about a scare so real it actually cancels your hunt? In 2017 wife breaks ankle in Sept, bye bye CO 2nd rifle. Poof. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How long does it take to break down an elk in the field?

Wow, some of the times to debone are fast.....takes me about 4 hours minimum by myself. And I only do one a year so I feel like I never get proficient. I’m very wary of cutting myself so I wear a cut resistant glove on the off hand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

PSA: Don't forget your hearing protection this fall!

I never shoot a gun, hunting or at the range without ear plugs. When hunting I either have Walker Game Ears in place, or manual ones ready to be placed in, so far it hasn’t cost me a shot and if it does, oh well. My hearing is more important than a dead elk. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Jacobs ladder

I see these things advertising “burn more calories”, but 99.9% of people can’t come close to burning calories advertised as it’s just too painful. So what’s the use? Running on a Treadmill on max incline can make you hurt, so can the stair master on max speed on if necessary. Sent from my...

    Activating an SOS

So if I sign up for Life Flight, that’s who’ll come get me? I hunt CO. What if some other outfit shows up? Do I call life flight directly if I’m in trouble? I have good cell phone service. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

New to this thing they call working out.

Wow, you guys must be tough, no way I could start now and go on a sheep hunt, it takes me a year or two to be in minimal shape, so now I work out year around, it’s just easier than getting in and out of shape My deconditioned shape is horrible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    When to stop?

I taper off to nothing the week before to avoid an injury that I don’t have time to recover from and also I’m sick of punishing workouts. When I get back, I’m exhausted and burnt out, it takes me 7-10 days to feel normal and then I resume my workouts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Mid-day hunting strategies

I hunt 2nd rifle CO, my mid day strategy is to nap and glass, and hike over some new country, with emphasis on napping. I rarely see anything in the middle of the day, so it’s hard to put forth much effort anymore. My main strategy is glass and stalk, and for whatever reason, evening is when I...

Looks Like I’m On Hold to Next Season!

I was in your shoes in 2017, way I dealt with it was to put any hunting thoughts out of my mind, like it didn’t even exist. And I watched more football than ordinary if that’s possible. And I kept it in perspective by imagining the much worse situations in life that I’ve found myself in, or that...

Transporting elk from CO to East Coast

I don’t like surprises, so I would definitely want a plan, wouldn’t want to be checked and then delayed for god knows how long. It’s not an issue for me because I have my elk processed in CO and give the antlers away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
