    Elevated II vs Open Country?

I don't think it really matters, except for personal choice. BUT I read somewhere on a Sitka site that the "Elevated" was designed for tree stand use due to the colors that blend better with tree top foliage, and the "Open Country" was designed for open terrain, etc where the quarry (animal...

Ever get a blood clot from driving?

My Mom passed away due to a clot in her leg that traveled to her lungs. Don't mess with that. Another person I know, a good friend who used to run a lot and ran in many 5k races had his knee scoped, and died from a blood clot as a result of the scope.

    Electrical Tape on muzzle?

Not familiar with that particular one. I have a brake on my rifle, and use tape on it. Just put a strip or two across the muzzle to cover the hole, then wrap tape around it to cover the slots, holes, etc. It will disappear when you shoot the rifle, and will not affect anything.

    Great idea !!

    Electrical Tape on muzzle?

I use it. I think it is inexpensive insurance to prevent getting any debris in your muzzle if you take a spill and the muzzle goes into the snow or mud. Your hunt would be over if that happened and you didn't have any way to clear the barrel. It will not affect anything when the trigger is...

    Midsize SUV Experience?

We have had really good luck with Nissan. I have a 2015 Nissan Armada that is rock solid, and have had no problems in 9 years except replacing the battery at about 4 years. Wife has a 2019 Nissan Murano, same story. Regular maintenance schedule, and we use Amsoil synthetic exclusively in both...

Ever get a blood clot from driving?

Never happened to me (knock on wood), but I have heard it usually occurs when sitting in the same position for an extended time (driving long distances or sitting on a plane for a long flight). I have read that you should get up from your seat in a plane and walk up and down the aisle for a...

    Rope!!!

I guess my comment rubbed OP the wrong, although it wasn't intended to do so. Personally, I love Texas and it's people. I used to live in El Paso (Ft. Bliss), then to Killeen (Ft. Hood), but now stuck in South La where my Wife is from. I couldn't get her to move back your way after losing our...

Ha, that is amusing. I have a visual of 2 guys trying to pull an elk up over a cliff from a creek bottom with a piece of rope!!

    First Rifle/Scope Purchase for Hunting

My grandson (15 yrs old) got one for Christmas. He is not real experienced in rifle shooting, and he shot a 3/4 inch group with it. Great rifle with a great trigger.

    Altitude sickness

Get to your hunt area as early as possible before your hunt to help acclimate. Don't over exert yourself the first day or two if that's possible. Stay hydrated avoiding alcohol and caffeine. If your urine is dark yellow, you are not drinking enough water. I use the Wilderness Athlete Hydrate &...

New rules on posting spots? Really Rokslide?

I think it's a great rule, and should be rigidly enforced. Last time I gave out a hotspot honeyhole where I hunt, someone built a Buc-ee's there and sold ice and pulled pork sandwiches to everyone that showed up. Now I have to lurk on hunting forums to find a new spot.

    Crispi Hunter >>> Crispi Guide

On Crispiusa website, they describe the Guide and Wildrock as having a 3flex rating, and the Hunter as having the 4 flex rating (making it a little stiffer). I find the Wildrock more comfortable than the Hunter.

    Crispi Hunter >>> Crispi Guide

Love my Crispi boots. I had the Hunter, then bought the WildRock, which is basically the same boot as the Hunter, but not as tall. I sold the Hunters, and use the WildRock exclusively. I think the Guides are a little more stiff, so I didn't try them. I wanted comfort.

Non resident OTC archery elk is over in Colorado

If it goes to all draw where it is now OTC, how do you think the private ranch hunters will get their elk tags if they are hunting with an outfitter? Do you think it will be landowner vouchers similar to New Mexico?? Just wondering. I hunt a private Ranch in 78/81, but now purchase my bull tag...

    Ruidoso fire

I hope they get out before it's too late. You can't save everything, but you can replace most of it. Found that out losing everything in Katrina.
