Until we change the way our commission operates/instated and voter based wildlife management this will never happen... the way things are heading right now, Washington is going to be the 1st state where hunting is completely banned.
There are a couple units on the west side that are no longer OTC for NR (moose) and draw only... the odds on those are WAY better if you are going guided. There could be more but I specifically came across these when I was putting in for moose tags. These are units that I hunted several...
From someone who does this all day, every day... keep an open mind and look at it from both sides, could or should the GC have known about a change? If not, that's a valid C/O. If he is pulling the nickel and dime gig where they are sending you a c/o for a couple hours work.... you need to have...
Very cool... I love to see new guys getting into it... it's what we need to keep our pastime alive..
Looks like you have a great attitude also... I'm from Wa. you have any questions feel free to PM and I'll try to point you in the right direction...
LOTS of good attitude in this thread... Worked hard in construction since I was 18, made good money and have my house paid for, a cabin and a few acres in North Central Washington that needs to get paid off and am on track to retire in 4 years at 55... "might" try and work a couple days a week...
If this hurts anyone, it's going to be the local businesses, I don't care if the majority of NR hunters only take 1 deer, they want 2+ tags in their pocket to make the trip... I'll go again, but will think twice if there are other opportunities available in November.
Simple is the name of the game for truck camping... as others have recommended.. pre-make meals and vacuum seal and freeze, throw into a pot of boiling water. It acts as ice in the cooler, no dishes to clean, no mess and way better than freeze dried. My favorites are tater tot casserole...
One thing I have noticed through the years is that the Ober's have more heart... they aren't the biggest, but the have more drive and personality that some of the other breeds... I think Ober/Alpine crosses are the way to go, for myself anyway.
Yep... not for the reason I was carrying the 10mm, (kodiak), had to put a 2nd shot into a sitka blacktail and didn't want to shoot it with a 300wm at point blank range. WAY better than needing it for an angry bear.
I just bought a used Decked package a couple weeks ago for my 2012 F150, took about 4 months for one to pop up, but got it for $850, the best places I found were FB Marketplace and Craigslist
If it weren't for Grandkids, I would cut and run... Instead I'll fight so they can hunt and own firearms..
Please sign this even if you aren't a Wa resident.. guaranteed the out of state antis are putting thier 2cents in.
The weather doesn't slow them down, I have probably killed more in the rain than not.... hunt as late as you can in October and the 1st week of November, pre-rut and rut...
If you see doe.... glass ALL around them, if you hunt in clear cuts, look for 7-15 year growth (if you can see) and glass...
