Its hot this year.. so weather, unless it changes quickly its not enough to drive them out. However, the massive hunting pressure is enough to drive them out. If you think out side the box and get away from the rds and guys with horses and things like that you can find animals. Colorado always...
Ok so the big problem with this as i see it, and i do hunt this area from time to time is that the same landowners that were complaining about the elk on their haystacks are the say landowners that harbor the elk during the general season and charge 10k for a bull hunt. But once they cant shoot...
Based on your 1-5 list, id go with the Kuiu and buy a bigger bag if you ever do a backpack hunt. You have a small bag for day hunts and it can pack meat with the frame, also the frame can come off and you can use it as just a bag in the treestand. Plus you can buy extra bags depending on what...
Still no interest. Got up close to a 5x5 at treeline. 11500ft and I couldn't go any further due to lack of cover. I cow called at the loan bull. He looked but did not care. Only 150 yards away and he kept feeding up. Nothing I could do but watch. The basin offered no cover to pursue. Weirdest...
Where is his tag? Hopefully its in a good area with lots of bulls..Some guys do post seeing a lot of moose in cerntain areas while elk hunting you might get information by going through some of the forums, i know i have seen a few.. good luck

Ii am hunting outside of leadville this year, another up or down part of the state. lots of elevation, i can find the hunters down low but only run into the locals up high and away from rds.. People from out of state just stare up the nasty steep country and think...
They can be very call shy up there in Grand County...well the whole state, but i know up there especially with all the traffic it gets as one of the first OTC units
My unit is still dead quite..cant find them by timber busting either..what a weird year
Not sure which Sitka jacket you have but i have the cloudburst, and i know if you tighten the cables on that thing to mold to your held you can pretty much walk around with it on like a hat. Its pretty great. Maybe try the first lite stuff, that stuff runs a little loser, which i like for the...
i guess it depends on the situation. This weekend i ran into two guys several miles back in the timber, we talked for 10 mins and went our separate ways, we weren't calling just cruising hoping to cut a track or something, the unit im in is having an extremely rough year so far. But actually...
Wish i could tell you what to learn from this other then keep searching....I have been going through the same thing this season, and i have gone high and low, not sure what you learn except for keep your head in the game and keep covering ground till you find them.
I have both.. i switch between both. I love my ascents the most probably just cause there lighter, especially for bow season. But cant go wrong with either. I hike a lot, so im not a big fan of knee pads as they rub me a bit and restrict me some, but they are nice on close and personal stalks...
Hunted all weekend, didnt hear a peep.. even found some new wallows that showed no signs of major activity... hoping things pick up. had some light snow on the tops...maybe spark some activity
Thats the key, trying to stay alert to your surroundings...I walked into a bear trap once.. never again, i was in the absaroka beartooth and sow and cub were down in this tight gulch. I was just trying to get out of country after an unsuccessful few days backpack hunting...i walked right into...
