Welcome to the addiction! I did my first one in 2013 and it completely consumes me now. On one hand I love helping and supporting guys getting into backcountry hunting but on the other hand I hope it doesn't become too popular... [emoji16]great forum to learn here. Good luck on your hunts.
Nice work. I'm jealous of all you guys and your craftiness with the sewing machines. I keep saying I'll try some things myself but never dedicated the time.
I tried the trick pin idea for my single pin but never got comfortable with it. I ended up just leaving it set at 30 yards and I knew the hold over/under for 20 and 40. I was pretty confident with that but, like you, still decided to go back to multi pin. Less chance of brain malfunctions in the...
Interesting. In comparing a long/wide 0 deg econ to an EE it looks like maybe only a few ounces difference and roughly $100 savings. I've been wanting a 0* EE but I may consider these. I have a 20* EE now.
This year is my first attempt at NM. I think NM is kind of a no brainer to apply for each year unless you have high expectations for another state's premium tag. I don't know why I had my head up my ass and didn't try in previous years.
Spot Hogg Tommy Hogg 5-pin. I used to run the single pin for five years or so and loved it for practice and 3D, but never loved it in hunting situations. Killed an elk and many deer and turkeys with it, but switching back to multiple pins this year.
Graindrain is correct, $13 fee. That's assuming you also checked the box for a full refund of the $65 hunting license fee. If not, you will be out that cost as well.
Thanks for stopping by Randy and thanks for all you do for public lands and sportsmen! Was just listening to your PC with the HUSH guys on my drive into work this morning. Good stuff! And I've been elk hunting every year since I first took the plunge in 2012 and don't plan to miss a year until...
The DT1 is one I haven't tried but has always been on my list. It would have been my first choice but the EMR-II came out right when I was going to get the DT1 and it changed my mind. I'll get a DT1 someday and try it out. There's a reason it's still in the Kifaru lineup.
The above advice is good. Without running the setup numbers, my gut also says 300's with any brass is what you'll need. I'm perplexed why you could not get the 300's to tune. Seems to me that it may be something other than the spine. Is it possible that you were getting some contact? I shoot a...
My hunting partner is a big dude. I could probably survive all winter on his remains. [emoji23] That said, I don't see it being plausible to answer. I'd say NO right now but this is a crazy what-if scenario that none of us could possibly answer from the comfort of our current location of...
As a side note, my son dry fired his Carbon Matrix and it bent the top cam, ruined the cables, and broke a plastic cam spacer. I didn't expect all that damage but goes to show that it can still happen even given the torture testing that the Hoyt's go thru in development.
On a positive note, I...
