Ok did anyone else see that certain PRO archer dry fire the Bowtech Reign 7 at the ATA show, and see the bow lived to tell about it? Funny and impressive all in one litte vid segment.

Extremely staged "accident".

Bowtech trying hard to change their reputation through any means available.

I haven't seen any confirmation it was staged. I'm just curious at to whether that's opinion or fact? Not a bow tech fan either way and no skin in this game.

Doesn't Hoyt dry fire every bow like 100 times before they leave the factory? I know there is a video on youtube of one of their automated machines repeatedly dry firing bows on the assembly line.

No. They dry fire the bows in developmental testing.

Sure looked staged. Anytime Burnworth is involved you know it's got some ridiculous staged BS involved.

Im convinced it was staged.
Muley if you ever get to meet Jim you'll be in for a treat. The guy is one of the most down to earth guys you will ever meet.Don't care who you are Jim will stop and talk with you. Ran into him at our big horn sportsman show a couple of yrs. ago. I had met Jim and talked with him several yrs. earlier but this time was the first for my wife. I had bought her a bow that Christmas and she was having some issues with her grip. For the next 30min. Jim walked her threw her grip and other things.

I will add this for all of you guys who might think the dry fire was staged. Think what you want to about Jim but from my experience with him he is absolutely no fake and wouldn't stand for any kind of dry fire stunt. He makes mistakes just like the rest of us, you should listen to him tell how he screwed up a shot on a 600lb. lion and wounded It. Fake no real yes.

Jim being a nice and genuine guy does not mean that he could not have participated in a publicity stunt designed by his employer to overcome the most significant obstacle to their brand's growth. He didn't compromise himself in any way to participate with this. I'd imagine that he will skillfully deflect any questions about the incident as to avoid "lying".

And it was Tim that dry fired the bow.

Even though it was staged, I think the stunt was pretty effective in getting Bowtech's point across.

They even talk about dry firing it ahead of time... like that needed to be said. Comes off as staged. Tim Gillingham comes off as one of the most anal guys out there. Its hard to believe he would accidentally do that.

No. They dry fire the bows in developmental testing.

As a side note, my son dry fired his Carbon Matrix and it bent the top cam, ruined the cables, and broke a plastic cam spacer. I didn't expect all that damage but goes to show that it can still happen even given the torture testing that the Hoyt's go thru in development.

On a positive note, I dry fired the first gen Carbon Element during a 3D tournament. Lost my peep but otherwise no problems. Shot the rest of the tournament with it, minus a peep.
