I went back and forth for a long time between the 300wsm and 7saum. Have always been partial to the 30cal as well, but ultimately the saum won out for me. I'm not only building a short lightweight hunting rig but also a long range target gun. So similar ballistics with a fair bit less recoil... -

Has anyone tried a Burris Signature HD?

help determining what to have freebore cut to
I've got a dummy round sitting here with the 155 hammer and will have my smith extend the throat to that. Won't get it all fully together till later this winter/spring. Dummy round is 3.045" if I remember correctly, so not a huge gain over saami but decent. I think it will give me some... -

I'm in the middle of a 7saum build with 20" barrel. When I was crunching the numbers the 155 hh seemed to be the best balance of speed and bc. However I'm not opposed to going down or up in size down the road. Can pretty much rely on getting a fair bit more speed out of the hammers vs the lrx...- Forest
