Odds my July NWT dall hunt happens?

I have a sheep hunt booked in August in the NWT as well. As a physician in one the most hard hit areas of Covid-19 (metro detroit), I have mixed feelings. The disease incidence around this area has dramatically dropped recently. I would not want to see areas that haven’t been hit go through what...

    Swift A frame question

Have had excellent bullet performance on game from mule deer to elk to gemsbuk in South Africa but groups out of several guns (6.5cm, 270 and 30.06) always seem to severely open up past 150-200yds.

What sleep pad do you all use?

If you are short guy (like I am) the womens thermarest xtherm is just about perfect. Splits the difference in R Value between standard xlite and xtherm. It is only 66inches still weighs only 12 oz and pack extremely well. The valves on the newer ones are significant upgrades as well. I pair it...

Is there a lightweight windproof hoody or jacket?

A lightweight windstopping breathable layer is something in my opinion most of the big hunting companies are missing. As someone who run all year round in Michigan I have found that one of my favorite pieces is the Arcteryx Incendo hooded running jacket. The performance was so good I began using...

    Shoulder surgery and recovery

There are many variables with regards to shoulder surgery and recovery. Not all rotator cuff tears are the same, not all labral tears are the same. As an Orthopaedic Surgeon I would advise people to be very careful what you read on the internet. Talk to your surgeon and make sure your questions...

Best bang for your buck tripod

I have owned both the slik 634 and 635 and much prefer the 635. It is more compact, packs easier, perfect height for me sitting with my spotter without extending the legs, and is tall enough fully extended to use standing with binos or scope (albeit I am short). Have run the outdoormans micro...

    Hornady Precision Hunter Reviews

I have had great success with them out of my 6.5 cm 143eldx. They are among the most accurate ammo I have shot. Have taken Elk and deer and have not had an animal make it out of sight. Shot placement trumps all so I have the most confidence in the what shoots best out of my rifle.

    Outdoorsman’s Pan Head

I had my 10x42 EL sent in for the stud adapter. Works great. I have had both the pan head and micro panhead and much prefer the regular pan head to the micro even with binos. It is also great for my ATX 65mm spotter. The micro was ok but preferred the balance and smoothness of the regular...

    Qualify a knife to pack

I have been really happy with kestrel knives. Wont find much lighter and for the weight can carry two in the field for half the weight of a lot of replaceable blade knives and are much easier to clean. Used outdoor edge and havolon for a while and went back to fixed blade. They stay sharp enough...

    Stone Sheep Outfitter

I think there are a few that do backpack hunts. Check out Dustin Roe with Backcountry BC and beyond. I have spoken with him a few times and he was very helpful answering a lot of stone sheep hunting questions I had.
