Mine was almost four years ago, when my wife said, "lets move", I threw out moving west and she was all over it, and seeing how she's my sugar mama, she found a job here in western Montana and we sold the house and packed all of our stuff and made the move. After being here, I kick myself in the...
My son and I have shot this the last couple of years, it's a fun shoot, but can be hot and that sun just seems to bake you. Prepare for some long shots, uphill and downhill, and trust your sight bubble. Wear comfortable shoes or boots and lighter weight clothes, plus pack extra water. We're...
I have a 2011 f150 with the 5.0, it has been nothing but a headache for me. Had to rebuild basically the whole front end, had a rear drivers side leaf spring break, had a bearing go out in the rear diff, and a starter go out all before 100k miles. This will surely be the last ford I buy...
Find a job in Bozeman, most likely you'll do work in the Yellowstone club. It's almost all new construction, and while there is a lot of work to do there, trying to find affordable housing is the biggest issue.
You will have to keep an eye on snow levels too, we didn't really lose our snow until the middle of June this year, and it made it hard to bear hunt many spots.
I've been out from sunrise to dark the last two days and haven't heard a single bugle, and I've been into elk every day so far, plus the elk are still in their summer patterns here.
I have a 5'x10' trailer that I'm redoing now. As soon as I get it wired wheeled and sanded and repainted, I'm flipping the axle for more clearance and then I'm building an enclosed box that I can slide on and off as needed. I can use the box to haul my camping and coolers or the mountain bikes...
My boy has been shooting since he's been 4, he's now 9 and shoots a Diamond infinite edge. It has been a good bow for him, just need to put a different string and cables on it. He's shot multiple 3D shoots with me this year and he did the Total archery challenge with me and shot every course there.
I'm into elk every day, seeing them everywhere from high to low and a lot on private land. But I also get away from the roads and trails, and am willing to put some miles on my boots.
I don't miss those days of driving 22 hours to go hunting anymore, we moved to western Montana over a year ago and I can be hunting in 15 minutes now...no more all night drives for me.
You'll do fine, just use common sense in where you go. I live in western Montana and most of the time my suburban is in 2wd, but if it rains or snows, you'll have some "fun".
I use a 7'x14' enclosed trailer, use it to haul my junk and I set up cots in it to sleep. It's great for the raining/snowy days, cause it has enough room to move around and be comfortable and it is small enough to be able to drag it in to some tight areas.
