$144 sale for Burris Fullfield II still on at Cameraland

I think the older US made Burris scopes with Posi Lock were the toughest hunting scopes ever made. I liked the posi lock feature. Shame that it never really caught on. Burris has always been a great company. I wonder, Steiner has or had a scope with a similar posi lock…and they are both in...

Cutting Edge Lazers for a 300 win mag

How far do you plan to shoot and at what? One of the drawbacks of the 300 win is retained velocity. It’s very capable, but there is a world of difference between ringing steel and having a bullet deliver terminal performance at longer ranges. I think we are seeing a shift to rounds like...

    Sig Cross Hype

i have it in my head…a defiance Ti CRF action, Longrifles Inc super fluted barrel to get to carbon wrapped weight equivalent, Geissele MK 13 trigger, XLR Chassis in Magnesium… But I keep coming back to normal rifles like a model 70 featherweight and doing the math on dropping it into a McM...

Idaho Lighted Nock and Expandable Broadheads.

Not Idaho, but Fish and Game Dept can be just as wrong as anyone else. Arkansas F and G literally took the duck hunting capital of the world, bringing in huge revenue and an amazing experience…and destroyed it completely. They had money, habitat, and organisations to do it…they just didn’t...

How are the browning hells canyon rifles?

They seem like great rifles….but WHY does Browning insist on carbon steel rifles…that they then ceracoat? That’s just illogical. The bore and action internals will still rust. Ceracoating a carbon steel barrel is a false sense of security. Browning should do better for that price.

    Sig Cross Hype

Not really. Super limited ammo available, proprietary case with steel rim, 80 k psi chamber pressure…and still slower than a 270 weatherby. The fury isn’t bringing anything new to the table beyond a more complex way to do the same thing IMO.

    Wyoming corner crossing lawsuit

That landowner should be shunned by the hunting community. Every hunter, podcast, blogger….should start and end their show with F this guy and all his friends.

Help me scope my mountain rifle

You can fix Trijicon illum, if it’s the fibre optic, by putting tape over it. Them pull tab it up in low light as needed.

16.5" Barrel - Carbon Fiber or Steel (Fluted)

Chad Dixon at Longrifles inc has a fluting profile that gets most heavy contour barrels to the same weight as a carbon wrapped barrel. If you haven’t talked to him, might be worth the time to give him a call and explain your goals. He has a lot more tech than most. gunsmiths…5 axis CNC, 3d...

    Hunting scope choice

ordered this scope just now, thanks for the advice. Interesting how it used a posi lock type feature…and is assembled in CO…where Burris made optics with that feature before moving to China. Wonder if there’s a connection.

Help me scope my mountain rifle

What circumstances would require that magnification in the field?
  15. Q

Help me scope my mountain rifle

That’s a lot more magnification than that rifle needs, practically speaking. You are building a lightweight mountain rifle and trying to put target/precision rifle magnification on it. Having been there, a svelte mountain rifle generally delivers best with an optic featuring a 42mm or so...

  19. Q

Gain twistrate barrels and chamber pressure

Bore dimensions will affect pressure far more than gain twist. As long as you aren’t doing a tight bore, pressure isn’t really going to change much.
  20. Q

    Thoughts on this chamber (borescope)

Guys…the chamber has a blatant machining defect…it’s not brass. There are rings/grooves machined into the walls of the chamber. It will require a replacement barrel. That’s a factory defect and you can’t fix it. The part gets scrapped and a new barrel gets Installed.
