I reload the 77tmk and 73 gr. I'd rather just buy loaded ammo for shooting prairie dogs. Looking for cheap I guess. -

Looking to see what you guys are shooting prairie dogs with? I have a 223 and don't want to use 73gr eldm or my 77tmk's on them. I have 50 ct box of 55gr hornady vmax but even those are a bit pricey. Let me know what you all use? -
Tip suggestion: seated shots?
Just received a tac table and mini tacky the other day from hereinaz. Took both out today shooting rocks and prairie dogs. The mini tacky is now a permanent must have piece of gear for me during hunting. I used it today on a boulder, off the tac table and a tree limb. It sticks well to surfaces...- hunterjmj

2024 Antelope meatpole
That's not unusual with taxidermists from what I hear. A gal who has done shoulder mounts for us tells us up front it'll be 1-2 years. I'm fine with it since she is honest about the time and she does fantastic work. -

The same guy has done all my Europeans the last three years. Never been over a week turnaround. He said he changed a few things this year to get the skulls a bit more whiter. -
Recipes for antelope
We use all the backstrap for Vietnamese Pho. The rest I grind for tacos, burgers or hibachi. -

Dropped my antelope off at the taxidermist yesterday and it's back home in less than 24hrs. That is fast service. -
Bino Harness for youth.
Not new but I got vortex harnesses for my girls and they work well. Not real high end but they adjust for a 6 year old. So much strapping was hanging loose after adjusting I had to cut and melt the strapping a bit. They aren't hardcore hunters at 6 and 8 so these work great and didn't cost much.- hunterjmj

It's only started on antelope and so far I'm committed. Taking it deer and elk hunting here in a couple weeks. -

Shot this guy at about 100 yards this morning. We were in antelope from sun up. Couldn't move around much with that many eyes. My 8 year old saw him and gave me the thumbs up. Was shooting the 73 gr eldm factory rounds from my week old tikka 223. Very pleased with the results. No meat loss... -

TIKKA Stainless - Phasing it out?
Never fluted my bolt for weight savings. Never said that. I like the way it looks and ive never had an issue in the 10 years of running a fluted bolt. I'm sure it's happened and maybe it'll happen to me but who knows. -

Shot another 30 rounds yesterday. Set up the magneto speed to check velocity on the 73 eldm's. Box says 2790fps and it's right in there. I think my slowest was 2745 and my fastest was 2820 with ten shots. I shot steel from 200 out to 600. I'm using the credo 3-9x40 with mil square holdover and... -

Once I have time to load up a bunch of rounds I'll be doing exactly that. I just have to have it shooting for the antelope opener on Saturday. I shot (2)5 round groups at 200 and they were probably 1.5". Going to shoot again after work today and hopefully one more time before the end of the week. -

Cranked 40 rounds today. A couple at 50 to dial it in then at 100 then out to 200. This rifle shoots great. Brought it back to 50 and let my girls shoot a bunch. Both girls 6 & 8 had a blast. They both have experience shooting their 22 crickets so it was a small jump to the 223. Loving the... -
UM Tikka bolt handles
I just installed the mountain tactical outdoorsman. Tucks in real tight. Shooting with it today so we'll see how it works.
