Totally agree. I think all the big wheel recommendations come from that exact scenario. Really have not heard a legitimate reason for them from someone who has rode both.
The only reason I can think is someone doesn't know any different and assumes the bigger tire means more stability, which in my experience is the opposite.
I know this is an old revived thread but I can not figure out why someone would ever recommend a big wheeled bike (TW) over a standard tire size like a CRF or TTR for single track hunting. Can someone give a legitimate answer to what advantage the big wheel provides?

Kidding.... Creed family (22/6/6.5) and then a mini action for 22/6 arc and 223 would be awesome. Definitely understand the manufacturing complications of making different sized actions and bolt faces though.
I have the work sharp motorized belt system. It takes some practice and you can definitely screw up a tip if you aren't careful but once you figure it out, it is fairly easy to get any knife shaving sharp within a short time. I wish I was talented enough to do the same with a rod or stone but...

AB shows G7's:
75 = .238
80 = .258
88 = .264
Editing to add - I told myself I wouldn't worry about these small things or...
I will check my notes tonight, but with the 73 it is about a max charge of H4895 with lapua brass loaded to tikka mag length and a CCI450. 2820 FPS in an 18" tube
I can't talk myself in to paying $40/box just quite yet to try Bergers. I think you are right on the 75 vs 80. Hornady shows a .009 increase in BC which more than likely will be way washed out by the speed difference.
Looking for some opinions from guys who have tried 75 and 80 ELDM’s in a tikka. I upgraded to the waters mags and now have plenty of mag room to try the longer bullets. My 73 eldm load at factory mag length shoots absolutely fantastic…. But I like to tinker so want to see if I can gain anything...
