This was my first bow and I'd recommend it. Southwest customer service is solid, had a small problem with a riser and they got it replaced quickly for me. If you draw on the shorter side you could go with the shorter Spyder for a 62" bow. They also have longbow limbs for that riser if you wanted...
I build my own strings but on a nice custom bow I want something really well made and I'm not there yet. And to be honest, it's something I don't really enjoy that much, although maybe as I get better at it that will change.
Still no weights up on the website, but customer service told me the size medium Tundra Lite weighs 12oz and size medium Tundra weighs 25oz. @bojangles808 @Fins_N_Tines
I know I lose about a half inch going from my recurve (Southwest Spyder XL, mid/high wrist) to my longbow, an ASL with a straight grip. I'm guessing you're losing more like 1/4" or so with your longbow.
Mostly the bow design explains the speed difference but I wonder how much difference that little bit of draw length you give up with the lower wrist grip makes.
So the longbow was in the low 160s and the recurve right around 180fps? Does the longbow have a similar grip or do you lose a little draw length compared to the recurve?
I've got longbow (fits 1" to 1-3/8" limb) and recurve (1-1/2" to 2") size slide-on hardware for a Selway quiver and would like to trade for Selway strap-on hardware.
If you're interested but not sure how to swap out the hardware I can help with that, it's pretty easy.
I would also buy extra...
This is one of those things that I've seen plenty of internet arguments on but the characteristics as I understand them are:
Narrow/thick limb profile
Straight limbs or very close to it - some have very slight reflex (e.g. Northern Mist American) or deflex (my St Patrick Lake Longbows Pacific...
Timesuck is a podcast where comedian Dan Cummins picks a topic (tends to be heavy on serial killers and cults, but there's other stuff mixed in) and dives in for a good 2-3 hours. If you're religious or just don't care for vulgarity/cursing/etc it may not be for you. He's more anti-cult than...
The deflex in the riser and reflexed limbs put the Montana well outside ASL territory, but that chicken looks pretty great!
Right?? It's not even an ASL but I don't care because I'm all about all that shit in the pictures 😆
