I'm leaning towards the Slik Pro CF-635 which is the most compact carbon tripod Slik makes. I will use my SVH-501 head on it. That would put the total weight at 2.9 lbs.
I just picked up a Slik Pro 824CF Tripod and SVH-501 head. I really like it a lot. Very strong, super stable. But I cant get over the weight of it. 4.75 lbs assembled... This is my fist spotting scope tripod. I admit I am a noob. Do y'all pack full size tripods like this into the...
PA guy here. Just getting into western hunting. I’m thinking an angled spotting scope would be really helpful. What do you guys recommend for a blue collar guy? I don’t think I’ll use it more than once or twice a year. Don’t want something super cheap, but I also know the high end ones can be...
I've been rucking with some friends on the weekends. Its a great test for your gear. I usually don't have foot issues, but after a 6 mile ruck, my feet will get hot spots on the bottom of the heels as well as the balls of my feet. They are a bit painful, which then makes me walk weird, which...
My wife's office is right next to my hunting room. She happens to love blasting lavender and eucalyptus in her little oil diffuser. Its a hot button topic in our house because I really can't stand it, but it makes her happy. Obviously some of that smell is getting on all my hunting gear. I...
Thanks so much for sharing. That video was really cool. Not sure if i need a camera to do all the trippy spins and stuff. My priority is going to be ease of editing at this stage in the game. I'm told a Go pro isn't going to capture (very well) critters if they are out past 40 yards. Can...
I'm debating getting into doing a little filming. I mainly saddle hunt whitetail and I'm thinking a 360 deg camera would be a great option being as it captures all angles! I also need a camera to take on a western Elk hunt this year. I' picturing something strapped to my backpack strap for...
Wow, this thread blew up. Thanks to everyone who had a response related to back country hunting in COLORADO. It sounds like Black Bears mostly want your food - not your flesh. Now I'm interested if the seasoned COLORADO hunters on this thread carry a pistol or bear spray when hunting COLORADO.
We are heading to Colorado for archery elk this year. This will my my first Elk hunt ever. I know there are no G-bears where we plan to go, but there are black bears. Do you guys worry about hanging your food away from the campsite when hunting CO?
Good news! Went rucking 6 miles on Forrest horse trails Saturday morning. Dropped my weights down to 35. The Pack with water and everything was probably around 40. Adjusted my pack, laced my boots differently (heel lock), used different socks ( smoother bottom - not quilted pattern). And…… NO...
How do you store your throw line? How do you store your rappel rope? I like the idea of the roll pouch, but not many options out there. Has anyone found anything that's cheap and works? Include pics please. Thank you!
I have the crossrope set and I only use the 1/2lb white rope. Once you get use to one, it’s really hard to do it well with a different weight. Also I agree that the 2lb one is like swinging an anaconda. Freaking ridiculous hard but it’s supposed to be more for muscle building than weight loss. I...
Thanks to everyone for the advice. This was my first experience on rockslide and it was a good one. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I’m gonna try to get a bag of something that’s 30lbs and adjust my pack to put more weight on the hips.

Thanks for asking. My back and shoulders are good. No issues there. Quads were a little sore but no different than a normal leg day. One weird think is I have shin splint pain. Probably more boot related…. Crispi Nevada with miracle gray insoles. Also the trail was pavement.
